i dont think i have seen a horse win that easily in a group 2 race, she was ultra impressive. She has 10.5 kg on Starcraft if she runs in the cox and 8.5 kg on Private Steer, Two weeks ago at caulfield she had the second fastest closing sectionals of the day only .1 of a second behind Elvstroem carrying the same weight. She must be a huge chance if she runs.

Alinghi does look a top filly, possibly one of the best to come out of Melbourne for a long time. The test will be against the colts, especially Fastnet Rock. Might clash in the Dubai Racing Club. Also would not rule out Charge Forward, needed the run last start and will appreciate the step up in distance.

To win a Cox Plate as a 3YO, the horse needs to be able to get the Classics distances. Recent 3YO's to win are Octagonal (Derby winner), Red Anchor (Derby winner), Surround (multiple Oaks winner).

Alinghi wouldn't run 2400m downhill. Freedman will keep her to 1600 - spell her and bring her back for feature sprints in the Autumn and maybe a Doncaster.

Fastnet Rock was equally impressive on Saturday and beat a better horse than Alinghi did. Barely A Moment is hardly top shelf - won a weak Sires as a 2YO then unplaced in a Listed race first up.

I think Alinghi is the best sprinting 3YO filly around as Crimson Reign hasn't resurfaced. The 1400 at Caulfield Sunday week should suit her at the weights too. Probably beat the fillies at 1600 in the Guineas as well. After that, Lady Of The Desert would have her measure 2000+.

They tried to turn Bel Esprit, Testa Rossa, Manikato, Luskin Star etc etc into 2000 3YO's and it didn't work. If they run fast, keep them in the sprints/miles.
