In the scenario above they have just STOLEN $32 from me.
Add this up every race, every day for a year and the mind boggles.
Why are the tabs allowed to get away with this

Well said Kenchar, this practice borders on the criminal.I really dont believe that Tabcorp has the racing industry at heart, if there were no Racing industry they would serve up random generated numbers every five minutes, and, unfotuneately the majority of the punters who populate the TAB
on any day or night would bet on them. The fact now that they are betting on South African Racing says it all.
I wonder how much THEY contribute to the South African Racing industry.
What a pack of hypocrites.

I think you'll find most of the $$$ on our races is from Aussie punters.

Thumbs down

I see that here in victoria in an effort to keep us from using betfair they are putting legislation in place to allow the racing bodies in victoria and other sports as well to decide exactly who is allowed to offer bets on their particular sport. Obviously racing victoria are not going to let betfair operate on their races and I hear this legislation may be put in place by other states as well.

They may well run into a little thing called the constitutuion... you can't restrain trade between the states.. It is pretty clear on that... AS it stands at the moment the boffins who legislate are that far behind technology, that it really doesn't matter a rats what they do.... The world has changed... legal boundaries have changed... I think Betfair will get up and in 2 years we will be wondering what the fuss was....

it worries me that governments are quick to protect monopolies.
remember when the government created the "four pillars" of banking which means the big four cant be taken over.
that allowed the banks to close branches all over australia without fear of having to have service delivery and takeover or someone taking advantage of their market. in other words a cartel.

this is happening with tab's. the word integrity seems to be used a fair bit lately i wonder if its a new word or a different meaning to what has been happening in racing. particularly sydney racing and the tab behaviour.
i am particularly stung by the tvn fiasco and cant understand the danger of me watching it on austar.

dont protect monopolies. banks. tab's, road tunnels, closing streets to force use.
sounds like an abuse of government power to me but what do we know we are only the customers.

The government will always do what it decides is best for them, you only need look at zoneing rules the amount of times that government re-zone land so they can develope it or sell it is a joke.
