Cool Mornington 14/12/2007

2 top raters won yesterday, but what caught my eye was the fact that in two of the races we snagged the trifecta in top 3 order, one for about $170 and one for about $50. Anyway, upward & onward...

Race 5; 3 2 5 6

Race 7; 11 8 9 6

Race 8; 1 4 6 3

Race 9; 12 8 9 5

Hi gerry,

I've been tracking your tips over the week, unfortunately we will end the week (Mon-Fri) at a loss even tho we got trifecta (not that I would bet that; was just place or win betting).

Good luck in the future.

I'm currently seeing how I fair if you tip the top rated horse under 56.5kg in weight or tipping the top rated horse in the race if it is both the top rated and under 56.5kg.

thanks.

PS thanks for your interest Pengo; I haven't done the results for the last 2 weeks yet, but will do it after tomorrows races. Did you include M.Valley last night in this weeks return ?

Nah I didn't bother to track it.

I'm doing better with the system I've come up with in selecting horses.

I seem to have a 50% SR at worse. Just gotta look into how you place the bets so that it gives you a return (e.g. place betting only, win betting only or each way, how much to outlay per bet type etc).

Here's is a link to my thread with the results, http://www.propun.com.au/racing_for...ead.php?t=16972

Cool thanks Pengo

if you are getting 50% strike rate you need only to average slightly better than evens to show a profit.

Each way betting is not a good proposition overall; for instance each way @ 4/1 returns only 5/2 for a win. To explain:

$1 e/w on a 4/1 winner returns $7, comprising $5 ( 4 + 1 ) for the win, and $2 ( 1 + 1 ) for the place, or a profit of $5 on your $2 outlay, or 5/2.

Well after doing the numbers based on my results from last week, I get a better return if I do 10 E/W. Even better still if I just do 20 for WIN and don't place bet. Tho more results the better, so won't really have a better idea on which way to go for a few weeks yet. Like for instance, at moonee value I got 4 winners (placing 1st) in a row. So that makes a big differance to the end of week profit/loss value. I want to wait to see when I don't have such success how my strategy stacks up.

Still I'm confident I'm onto something with my strategy as I picked only one race yesterday and the horse placed 1st. Looking at my results so far, when a horse does place for me more often than not it is 1st place (instead of 2nd or 3rd).
