Apr 8 Ascot - girl vs boy
WA Carnival in full swing next Saturday, Ladies Day, with the WA Oaks. Wave Rock the favorite.
Following Saturday there's the WA Derby and of course the 2YO Karrakatta Plate. From this weekends racing we're in for an almighty clash with two outstanding 2yos. Paris Petard will no doubt start favorite as she carried 58.5kg and will drop to 53.5kg, won 5/5, and won twice over the Ascot 1200m. She also ran about 4lens faster in her last 600m sectional than the c&g division. S.Mcgruddy looked to be working a bit on her on the turn then she let down brilliantly.Fred Kersley has another good one. Canny Jack will carry 56kg(from the 55kg on Sat.) and had some front end speed to help him. But his potential is really untapped. He picked them up in about 3 strides then J.Whiting let him float along the last 50m. The 1200m should also suit him. Champion trainer George Daly. With some other races like St.Leger, Sires' Produce, Strickland, Hyperion quality racing will be at both ends of Australia. Bring it on! |

Bring it on!
Yep, bring it on anchor! Geez, can't remember being this excited re the Karrakatta Plate..think we might have two really good 2YOs that could easily make their mark over east in the future, assuming HK doesn't get them first!

Apr 8 Ascot - another girl vs boy clash
Quote:
Thought I read some where that Wave Rock's main mission is the Derby? Not sure if the report mentioned also running in the Oaks. In any case could be another girl / boy clash of great interest - Wave Rock Vs Scenic Shot. |

Watching with interest for results of today’s trials at Belmont in particular the performances of Metallic Storm winner 5 from 6 and having her 2nd trial since a spell, won the last. And Mr Sandgroper returning from a spell and an unsuccessful short stint east.

Forget about any clash - Wave Rock is gone, broke down in training this morning & probably will be retired. |

Wave Rock

Shocking news for connections and trainer Caroline Grant. Sustained a strained near fore flexor tendon during track work at Ascot this morning. Oaks winning chances for the likes of Moodometer and perhaps Imaginaire and Say Cherie (both having problems of their own) obviously greatly enhanced. |
