News is that leading Irish jockey John Egan will be riding in the west for at least 4 weeks, commencing next month. Good to see a touch of blarney heading our way.

Yes Sandgroper, beaten a lip in races 2 & 3. Start of what to be a most unproductive day :sad: Agree something must have gone amiss with BRAZILIAN – much better than that, likewise TSHOMBIE who also finished well back. Waiting on stewards reports with interest.

Nothing in the stewards report to explain the very poor performances of BRAZILIAN & TSHOMBIE, Sandgroper.

Just added to suspened jockyeys list - Stephen Miller - back the 24th January 2004, Peter Knuckey - back 26th January 2004, Dion Luciani - back 29th January 2004 & Shaun McGruddy - back 21st January 2004. Making room for that irish bloke, Sandgroper :lol:

John’s a good strong jock Perth Placegetter, in his mid 30s rides around 51kg. Is actually a graduate of the racing academy and centre of education located on the main Dublin road outside Kildare town on the edge of the Curragh plains. In recent times subject of a few controversies, but things have settled down now, & I’m sure he will enjoy his short stay in the west :wink:

Looks like Paul Harvey is not riding at Ascot tomorrow or Bunbury on Thursday. Not suspended as well ?? - I've not heard anything :???:

prob just on hols. he often does take time off this time off year. He needs a break he's riding terribly lately.

Spot on umrum, Harvey has taken a break, I believe he will be back riding on 24 Jan.

Actually think his manager may also need a break. Some of the cattle the pontif has thrown a leg over in recent weeks, don't seem to be up to the normal Harvey standard.

yeah durbridge toy first up over 2000m or 2200m was a strange choice of ride.
