Oops. Didn't notice that. I find it hard that Nikolic reckons he heard something with 100 metres to go.

Mate, if the injury occured at the 100m mark, the horse would have struggled to finish th race. The injury was extremly serious and often happens when horses pull up and thishas to be the case.

I know I dont belong in this thread, sorry for the intrusion, but just wanted to help clear up the confusion.

Taken from The Age
Jockey Danny Nikolic knew Mummify was in trouble when he heard a sound like a "cannon shot" as he was pulling up the six-year-old after his brave third to Railings and Eye Popper.

"It was about a furlong after the post," Nikolic said.

"The horse was that stuffed after giving all he had, then I heard what sounded like a cannon shot … I pulled him up after 50 yards."

"He snapped his leg. I jumped straight off him and it's just shocking, terrible," Nikolic said.

The quote about Nikolic confirms what I am saying. Originally, Nikolic said that it could have gone with 100m to go when the horse brushed the fence but this would have ben purely impossible for the horse to finish. The only time it began to snap was after the race when the horse was pulling up.

Well, what a win by the champion mare Makybe Diva in the W.S Cox Plate. A decent loss for me with results coming later this afternoon.
