lol yeah I know, a measly 2.5 points.

Bit dirty on myself about Proprietor. He rated 115 three runs back behind Takeover Target, was a great run, have been following him closely since but today only gave him 112 instead, which made him 5th pick, priced him $16. He's obviously gone 115 and won. I should have given him 114 at least, 112 was too much penalty just b/c of one poorer run LS. Need to be more forgiving of one bad one.

Durtiz,

Sorry about the late reply but been at Poker all night (came 12th).

I never had Proprietor in my top 6-7 of the race at all. Why did you rate him so high (apart from his run behind takeover target) ? Also roughly how long does it take you to rate the race ?

Good Luck.

Hi Wesmip - I rated him high because he deserved it on the 115 behind TTarget. Also, in the run behind Falkirk, he was on the worst going on the inside division. Video comment that day - "joint led inside div (worst side) even tempo, accelerated - lead that division 2 lengths 300, maintained that well but on wrong part of track. Won inside div by 2.3L. " Nice run on bad going, rated 109 but obviously suffered due to that. He then failed in Sydney (at Warwick Farm though, diferent kettle of fish to Randwick), rating 107 that day. I assessed him at 112, and had him priced $16 in fifth spot. If I'd allowed him the full 115 from behind TTarget he'd have been 2nd pick, only slightly behind California Dane. I should have given him 114, 3 points was too big a penalty for one bad run. Oh well, live and learn.

As to your second query, I can spend up to an hour on a race, or I could rush through it in five minutes, because I have their ratings and video comments. Ideally I like to spend about 45 mins on a race.

Good luck Wesmip.

I think the NZ horses are starting to look good and take our measure. We haven't got much serious talent going around because our breeding industry is a mess, mostly producing overpriced rubbish from weak bloodlines with poor SR records from what they are producing. Fooram [NZ] walked in last start which wasn't a bad measuring stick of the Kiwi talent. Zabeet[NZ] might be the one to catch and Fooram's odds will be poor value. Miss Finland is heading places and Men at Work [NZ] might show Eremin up whose odds will be pathetic.

It all seems a bit of a dart throw with Group races this year. Shocking betting propositions except perhaps for exotics. A bookies picnic usually as how many surprises have we seen win these big races at big odds? Enough for a win punter to be well into loss chasing Group wins. How much money has been done by punters on Lad of the Manor in all his failures and he is only one of the disappointments. Our whole breeding industry needs one hell of a shake up. Too many rich idiots around who know nothing about race horses. They will buy anything and at stupid prices and as long as that goes on the industry is going to continue to sink into mediocrity.

Makabe Diva was a Champion because there was no compitition to compete against. 10-15 years ago she wouldn't have had half the runs on the board she ended up with.
