They should rename the Melbourne Cup to the Bart Cummings Melbourne Cup

Very sad another icon has passed.
He apparently knew he wasn't looking well towards the end and refused to have his picture taken.
Like Tommy Smith, Colin Hayes et al, a racing dynasty has been lost, not the new sons and daughters, but the old school knowledge.
Colin took the English rolling hills and simulated his Angaston property to get the horses fit by running them on a slow and steady increasing incline.
Bart knew it took miles in their legs to get Cup winners and mirrors in their stalls to keep them happy.
I don't think anyone will ever surpass Bart's Cup winning record.
Long may it stand.

Legendary racehorse trainer Bart Cummings will be farewelled with a 'day of tribute' at his home track of Randwick on Saturday.

A minute's silence will be held for the 12-time Melbourne Cup winner, who died on Sunday aged 87.

Jockeys will also wear black armbands to commemorate his passing.

Race three on Saturday has been renamed the JB Cummings AM Tribute Ming Dynasty Quality.

"Bart will forever stand in Australian history as an icon of racing, and will always be a special part of Royal Randwick," Australian Turf Club chief executive Darren Pearce said.

"In offering our support and condolences to the Cummings family, we are grateful that they have agreed to these special tributes on Saturday."

Sections of the Randwick lawn will also be repainted green and gold, in honour of Cummings's racing colours.

The racing icon will also have a presence on the racetrack with grandson James Cummings to saddle up stable warrior Precedence in the Group Two Chelmsford Stakes.
