thought it a great win and masterful ride.
munce occuplied the spot that starcraft should have pursued from barrier one.

on the pace and move at the turn in the cox plate.
great run by fields of omagh. starcraft was a good effort.
surprised at the way grand armee was off the pace.
he is better than that.
a good race. certainly not as disappointing as some would have it.
rogerson told us his horse was a champion. wonder he has to do to convince us.
(i did have something on him)
(took his word for it)

Gonna do a "rogie"mouth off here....
I noyiced that nearly everyone on this thread put Elvstroem in somewhere. If you read my post on page 6 you will see I declared it could not win,and tipped 4 horses which where IMO the only real chances.
I got the winner quinella 10 times,trifecta5 times and the first4@1 unit. All in all a BIG day for me.Yes,I'm CROWING.GOYOUGOODTHING!!!
The only bet I lost was $100 on Starcraft.

Just curious purpleheart 68
with those trifecta bets and first four did you box them or do standouts
If so what did it cost, because by my calculations you cleaned up around $9 g's

Disappointed the Big Fella couldn't sprint quicker than he did the last 200m, although that's not really his go; a good effort to get as close as he did in the finish.

The most curious thing for me to come out of the race was the number of poor rides. If you backed Elegant Fashion and thought you were a bit stiff in the straight; you're right. Problem with that thought is; she never should have been where she was in the first place! At the 1000m when Munce knew he had to move on Zavabeel (and did), should have sounded the alarm bells in G.Mosse's head. His next move is to do nothing! He sits inside a sprinter, OER and behind a miler, Regal Roller, unbelievable! It was the picture perfect advertisement for local jockeys you'll ever see.

The only two jockeys to leave their settled positions first, were the first two past the post; great rides by both Munce and Nikolic. Of the others, Boss on Starcraft and those directly behind him on the rail could do nothing until someone else first created pace or space and neither ever eventuated. Paolini caught 3 wide the entire trip proved nothing else but nuisance value although no jockey in the 1 wide lane endeavoured to improve their position until it was all too late. Rawiller on Elvstroem was just plain stiff. Missed the jump, angles for a trail at the rear with no resultant pace, baulked for a run at the top of the straight; a neither here nor there result for both connections and backers.

good analysis Dunda,

agree with all of them.
Also, Grand Armee was inconvenienced by Elegant Fashion early causing him to lose his position and get further back than expected (I expected him to box seat).
Delzao made up late ground, not sure if was just passing tired horses or that was looking for further, as it looked like he was out-sprinted down the side.

oliver's ride was a shocker. rode grand armee upside down. would have won if ridden correctly.
