Australia’s oldest active jockey Danny Miller has vowed to never set foot on a racecourse again after being forced into retirement by Racing and Wagering WA.
The 70-year-old was devastated when recently told his 56-year career in the saddle had come to a sudden end. In a statement, RWWA general manager of racing Charlotte Mills said Miller was “declared unable to ride as a result of medical advice”. Mills said there had been no policy changes relating to age limits of jockeys. Dashing Dan, who was taken off his subsequent two rides at Carnarvon, claimed he was in top fitness and passed recent medical tests. “They’ve taken my licence off me,” Miller said. “They’ve broken my heart. I’ll never walk on a racecourse again". Source: The West Australian
