Playing at star city
Hey guys,
i played at star city for the first time the other day. i played the 10/20 limit texas table basically because it was the shortest wait. i've never played poker in person before that time and when i play on the net blinds and bets were done by computer automatically for you. Theres just a few things i want to clear up. -i thought because it was a 10/20 table it meant the sb was 10 and bb was 20 but it was the sb was 5 and bb 10. whats the 10/20 mean anyway? -does anyone know of a site that explains the rules for a table like this in detail, like what the cap is pre flop, pre turn and pre river and whats the minimum bet every round. or if anyone just explain it to me here i would appreciate it greatly Many thanks in advance and happy punting Punta Last edited by punta : 21st September 2005 at 07:07 PM. |

10-20 means the size of a small bet and a big bet. A small bet is usually the size of a big blind. Sounds silly now but you'll see why in a minute. "does anyone know of a site that explains the rules for a table like this in detail, like what the cap is pre flop, pre turn and pre river and whats the minimum bet every round. or if anyone just explain it to me here i would appreciate it greatly" Different cardrooms have different capping limits, eg some allow a 3bet (ie a bet, and 2 reraises), some allow 4 (ie a bet and 3 reraises). You'll have to check with star city. Capping is the same on every street ( in terms of # of reraises allowed). Ok. Preflop. Preflop you bet/raise in small bets (ie a big blind, the $10 in 10/20). On the flop, you bet/raise in small bets. On the turn, the betting amount increases and you now bet/raise in big bets. On the river, you bet raise in big bets. So basically the bet size for the last 2 streets is doubled. So preflop and on the flop we bet/call/raise in $10 units at a 10/20 table. On the turn and river, we use units of $20. |

Heh that's kinda funny when some of the top online players are barely legal, and there are plenty making 6 figs. As fun as it'd be to take money off these chumps I don't think it's gonna pay like 12tabling $55 sngs on party poker |
