Default Introduce a minimum bet law for Australian Sportsbooks. #letusbet

A review into online gambling is being done at some point in the future. In the wake of this a new petition is asking for bookmakers in AUS to let everyone bet, not just losers and problem gamblers.

Here: https://www.change.org/p/scott-morr...tter_responsive

And here again is a nice little internal TAB document we're not supposed to see:

Thumbs down

Dunno if anyone watched the 7:30 Report last night. It was about the Senate Inquiry coming up that Sen X has introduced, and ScoMo's going to oversee.

One bloke started with a $5k betting bank and the bookies kept letting him bet, shouting hospitality venues, the lot....until he lost $980,000, and his wife and kids walked out! There is an argument for tighter control IMHO....some of these people can't save themselves. Trouble is these types ruin it for the pros. They profile as losers, the bookies luv em, and when you here about the big bets landing, ...YEP...there goes another one more than likely?

Another young bloke had to sell his house after losing the lot in 4 bets!

I was channel hoping during ads, and saw it.
From what I "get", he lost.
Reports of this type never show the moderate winners.
I don't mean the Lambo's, Ferrari's, top shelf crayfish, front bar etc.
The ordinary sensible punters who have a sane approach to gambling, even if they lose on the day, they don't sell the house.
Do they show these ?
No.

Makes no difference to the outcome but the way I heard it, he sold his house first, not after.
He made 4 large bets on footy if I recall correctly and lost the lot in four bets.

How do you protect ppl from this sort of stupidity?
I mean there is greed and there is something else!

"More, More, More.......Sports, Leagues, Markets and Live Vision from around the globe”

Unbelievable, I bet in hundreds and fret, despite having been in the black by a fair deal for years.

There are punters and there are gamblers, all I can say.
Punters don't lose their houses, sure they not often win enough to buy them either.
Some exceptions apply to both groups I suppose.
