Hi, I was reading an old article on form analysis and it mentioned a rig in relation to a horses sex. It listed the possible sex of horses as geldings (g), colts (c), fillies (f), mares (m), horse (h) and "rig" (r).

No other mention was made about "rig".
What is it?

Thanks

It's a stallion with only one jatz cracker or an undescended jatz cracker.
I don't think it affets fertility.
The most famous rig was Comicquita, a son of Comic Court and Chiquita who quinellad the 1950 Melbourne Cup.
Also, Adolf Hitler was a rig. And an ****************.

I think the handy galloper, Crepellox, was a rig too.

Testarossa,

Technically speaking a horse is a male (ie. stallion) and mare is the female. So horse and entire are probably interchangable.

Until today I thought a rig was just a ************ big truck

Looked up Rig in the Oxford dictionary and one of the more interesting definitions was
"A wanton or lascivious woman"! Couldn't find any reference to a horse with only one jatz cracker though.

A rig is definately a male horse with only one Jatz, however, as we found out during this years State of Origin series Gordon Tallis's mum is also a rig (apparently). And before you start I may live in Qld but am not a Qld'er, don't even follow that stupid League game.

Along with the various sexual terms for horses are the colours.
Horses can be 6 primary colours or a combination of two of the colours. The primary colours are Grey, Brown, Bay, Black, Chestnut and - does anyone know the last one?
Trip for two to Disneyland for the first correct entry.
Clue - its about as rare as a rig.

Could you be refering to a "Roan".
Def: A horse having a bay (red roan), chestnut (strawberry roan), or black (blue roan) coat sprinkled with white hairs.
[C16: OF: Sp. roana, :Gothic, rauths (red)]

Roans are often in your cowboy westerns. A common mistake some people have is thicking a roan is a breed of horse rather than it's colour. eg. The sheriff rode into town on his black arab as Billy the Kid mounted his roan and headed for the hills.
