Not done the form yet but have already invested a little on Black Tom (mainly for the place).

Good ride Peter Hall to get Black Tom into 3rd posi beaten only 1 len. At the rear stuck to fence when others went wide. Black Tom will obviously be improved by the run.

Fastest heat of the day was run early. Maiden performer Trimvision. The 3YO colt has now had 6 starts in all, 3 x trials for 3 wins and 3 x official starts, all unplaced. Track was bordering on slow by the end of the heats, so I've been told.

The lightly raced Water Into Wine reportedly did very well in winning his heat. Likewise Mondaine in her heat.

Starjah took out the open class event, narrowly over Robyn's Jewel and Alpine lad.

Never had a share in a racehorse but have a mate who has shared (normally 1/6) ownership of 5 horses in the past 5 years.

So I hear all about the ups & downs of owning & racing a racehorse (in my mates case mostly downs).

Thought I heard it all in terms of the downside until I read recently about the horse (Cleaning Up) that crashed through the outer fence at Belmont the other day, tumbling into the water. The horse swam out to a sandbank, stood there for a while then started the swim back to shore, drowning before reaching it :(

Any thought of ownership that might have been building-up inside has now been totally quashed!

Probably a blessing, I think he would have found it very tough going on the eastern seaboard.

The Paul Jordan trained Volition ran the fastest heat of the day, beating Great Nation by 0.75 len.

Volition hasn't started since unplaced in the Coolgardie Cup back in August. The freshen-up looks to have done him well.

Great Nation ridden by Willie Pike looked to have a bit up his sleeve and was probably the better run of two. Great Nation has had 18 starts for 11 wins and shouldn't take long to add to that tally.

She did westman but the next two were gaining on her over the last bit. Surprisingly good price considering she wasn't beaten far previous start over the trip by Ripped who from memory was 2nd or 3rd fav for Saturdays race.

Fastest heat winner was Star Laser just beating Zanella with the lightly raced Desiarnez 3rd. A particularly strong trial and the form out of the heat should hold up. Smart mares Kia Ora Miss and Another Commodore were just behind the place getters in this heat.

The second fastest heat of the day was run by Electic winning the final trial of the day, from Elsie The Eagle and Diamond Highway. Form out of this heat should aslo hold up.

Electic raced below best Saturday (5th behind Real Mak - great win that horse) Diamond Highway entered in R3 Ascot Tues.

The pontiff is back home and will pilot the fav Vain Crusader. Didn't have the best of luck in the Belgravia Stakes, the extra 200m Tues will suit. Rich Ken ran on nicely same race, finished just behind Vain Crusader. From a good barrier Lacerate might run a cheeky race. Was ridden off the pace last start over the 1400 and did battle on well, drops 1.5kg on that run. Oroya Gold has still to find his very good 2YO form and the Paula Wagg trained Real Cheeky not hopeless.
