very tough day not sure what the track is going to be like or what sort of bias there will be during the day my guess is outside is where you want to end up towards the back half of the day. I am going to work with a slow rating but I have heard it could be even better than that so I am just not sure.

Race 1: I have a couple I don't mind here High Academy probably slightly ahead of Bohemian Dancer and Skyleda and my old man has been telling me not to leave out Abu Simbel so for that fact I will include in my thoughts. they all have a bit of wet track form. This first race is going to be a bit of a guessing game I will look for a bit of value would probably want to get double figures on any of my selections although I might be willing to go shorter for High Academy maybe around $8.

Race 2: I like one of my favs here Roman Squire his last run was very nice a real powerful win I think Pengelly got this horse to improve by a few lengths really hit the line with a bit in hand, The danger to Roman Squire might be Wings of Seraph has some wet track form and i really liked the way it got home in a fairly run race last start. Roman Squire is my bet here I would like to get as close to $5 as I can probably don't really want to go any lower than $3.50 might have a little e/w on Wings of Seraph if it is up around the $20 mark.

Race 3: Not interested here to be honest smallish field lacking anything that i really like the fav loooks hard to beat but Mohawk has a little bit of ability if he got out over $25 i might be tempted to have a go here. doubtful betting race Mohawk the only one I would consider and he would have to be big odds.

Race 4: I have had a long hard look at this race and the one I keep coming back to is Primal Impulse the jockey does worry me a little but I will give her a chance, The other horse I would consider is Tenshi a horse over from a good stable in Adelaide form doesn't look to bad and this is not a strong race. Primal Impulse looks hard to beat but certainly isn't a certainty would entertain Tenshi at $10 or better.

Race 5: I amnot interested here at all as a betting prospect Falvalea might be a rough sort of hope agains the favs but not about to throw any money on it. No Bet

Race 6: terribly hard race I could give a chance to just about anything in the race,
#1 Xcellent has more ability than any of these but eighteen months off the seen with stemcell surgery is a big ask if at his best he could easily blow these away a repeat of his mudgway wins this IMO.

#2 Malcolm can't be treated as a chance on his last run it was awful and if anything he went backwards in the straight no hope for mine.

#3 Mitanni his form is good but my query with him is maybe he is coming to the end of his tether he has had a long capaign I am just thinking that he may have already produced his best.

#4 Gee I Jane I had been told was flying in NZ and was supposed to really give this race an almighty shake but she has not fired a shot here although I have heard excuses and maybe they are warranted and although she wouldn't surprise me I couldn't have her.

#5 Black Ink he is a place chance in this he just can't finish off 1400m properly IMO a place I would nearly expect however a win would really shock me.

#6 Gold Edition all the talk this morning it almost sounds like they are going to hand this race to this horse or atleast try to I just hope this is not a trot and canter if she wins then good on her but atleast do it on her meritts not have the race handed to her, I do still feel she is a query at 1400m but she might not have to run 1400m and if that is the case she might prove hard to run past.

#7 Royal he is a good honest horse always puts in and doesn't go to badly on wet tracks his 1st run here was pretty good when I didn't think he was asked to do to much and drops 5.5kgs on that effort he has raced well in good company before and will be hitting the line in this race.

#8 Stormhill thought this was a great run 1st up in brissie interesting they are going 2nd up into this race he can sit up near the pace I feel he will sit 2nd or 3rd and try and peel off them as they straighten I think at some point in the straight he will hit the lead whether he can hang on to it I amnot sure he is a horse I wouldn't leave out of anything you do though.

#9 Hard to Catch I just can't have him on the wet track he wanted this bone dry

#10 Shinzig he has never shown his best in Australia can't see this being the day he does

#11 Reigning to Win quality horse trained by one of the best in the business but since his 1st win here over 1400m I thought he had raced very flat to be honest even in the win at doomben it wasn't impressive, I really feel this guy would have to lift to be winning this.

#12 Benedetti I have heard a few people spruiking this guy but his melbourne form is nothing to go ga ga over and sure he won in Dubai but what sort of quality was it anyway I'd be happy to leave him out personally especially 1st up.

#13 Daunting Lad No hope I feel

#14 The Jackal he is the one I see putting a little pressure on Gold Edition he pulls so hard everytime he races interesting that Patillo is riding it today I can't have him though you can't do the amount of things wrong this guy does and get away with it in these races.

#15 Mr Ubiquitous he was a chance in therain stuck around and he could still run a nice race but can't see him troubling them to much.

#17 Smart and Mighty can't have him either was beaten pointlessly last week no hope IMO.

#18 Magic Marvo backed him for a place in last years stradbroke this year it wouldn't shock me if he ran last needed to have a few more runs under his belt I thought.

#19 Nova Star she is in the best form of her career she has never been consistent but she has been this prep really hitting the line hard back in brissie she is a blowout chance in this on her last win even though no horse has never won that double.

#20 Sniper's Bullet I have thought since his 1st up run this bloke is a major chance in this with the weight he has he meets his other 3yo counterparts so much better and although it can be argued he hasn't got the credentials the others do he hasn't been far off them with bad luck in some of the good 3yo races in the sydney, he has been set for this race all along and is going to be tough to hold out.

#21 Snort he is a horse i liked a bit as a youngster but he is a frustrating horse always seems to be able to find trouble and for that reason I stopped even looking at the horse, he is a rough chance in this but I think he would need all the favors to get there.

Sniper's Bullet I am already on and happy with that after that I am looking at the likes of Royal Ida, Nova Star, Stormhill all pretty much equal for me and will probably have a trifecta with those 4 and maybe a couple of others hard race and good luck to everyone in it

Race 7: This is a tough derby to work out but I will look for value and the 3 I am looking at are Resolution, King of the Nile & Volcanic Star they all look good odds and seem decent e/w bets depends on how I am travelling at this point as to who I back. right now I am thinking that I will have something e/w on King of the Nile and Resolution but if going well enough will probably have a stab at Volcanic Star aswell as I thought his last run was full of meritt and he should have won.

Race 8: there are 2 I like here Hasta La Ciao Ciao and Stylish Qualo the 1st I think could end up near fav and the other is a roughie that could rattle over the top of them if they went crazy up front although it is up in class a bit here. Hasta La Ciao Ciao I was hoping to get around the $6-$7 range but I can't see that happening as everyone has been tipping the horse $5 would be my limit outside of that will probably have a stab e/w at Stylish Qualo.

Good luck for the day guys to hard for me to give a best or anything right now might come back later on and do it.

Very tough day Raw.

1st race has more duck eggs in it than the lake I live on in Spring!
I'll go Syleda and Point made.

2nd. Old Belvedere gets his chance here after 2 big runs and fitter for this one. The toppy with the claim will be the big danger out in front and might be hard to run down in the condt.

3rd. Stolit bit off more than he could chew last start and will relish back to this class. 4th. start in too. Stirring, even with the 57kg. the main danger.

4th. Primal Impulse is ready for a win and finally gets a decent barrier and will love the SLOW.

5th. Key Bar Nights, Falontime, Miss Watagan
6th. Reigning to Win or Storm Hill if gold Edition puts a foot wrong out front.
7th. Fort n' won for me with Empire's Choice the danger

8th. Forget the fav. Hasta La Cio Cio as it will be too short. Like Sheezvalue and Sir Monashee.

The bookies will win on the day most probably, but you never know:-))

Cheers.

Race 1,
A few in this that are evenly rated,,not a race for me to get excited about.High Acacedmy and Skyleda the two that will like the sting out..if the track wasnt rain affected i'd be all over Point Made who was very brave last start in a way harder race..its a very good drying day again with this wind around but untill i see the track i'll be taking it easy,,,
Race 2 ,
Old belvedere will apreciate this track,,Roman Squire with the big strides mightnt be to suited on this surface,,,,these look the two with Old Belvedere at least backable..
Race 3 ,
Stirring looks to good for these,,the improver Main Vein shouldnt be ignored.,this is the one that will sit off Stiring and try and run her down..I'm a fan of the jockey so i might have something on at the odds,,
Race 4,
I was super keen on Clevergaze before the rain....I think Donbodine interesting in this,,has been working well likes the slow and should sprint well fresh,,,not a race i'm keen on,,,
Race 5.
The two obvious horses alittle unders imo.KeybarNights the better of the two,,,i went looking for value and thought Falcontine a good e/w ,,the horse doesnt run a bad race and from the barrier will get the sit just behind Miss Watagan...
Race 6,
I'm already on geeiJane and although not super confident i still think she can run a cheeky race ,,she has the good barrier in the big field and has a good sprint at the end..if they are getting into the track this will suit even more...
I'll be trying to jag that 1st4 ...with horses like Royal Ida, Blackink,Goldy,Mitanni, Nova,RTW,Mitanni..and Snipers all in there somewhere....not sure what order because i want to see how this track plays..
Race 7,
I'm a fan of FortnWon,,,the horse should have won last start with clear running i'm not a massicve fan of the jockey as i think he takes wrong options to many times for a top jock,,but hes always been set for this and i should get around 10s,,,Sirmione and theseo the main dangers ahead of Empires Choice,,,
RAce 8,
thought Sir Monashee peeling out wide a big show at odds in this,,,Hasta has had probs..Sheezavalue will have to do some work early and i dont think leading will be the place to be this time of the day....

The best bet at Eagle Farm today is Race 3 No.1 Stirring. Stirring jumped in class up to a 3yo quality last start and led and held on very well for 3rd behind Cocktail Supreme and Sniper's Bullet (both of which would massacre this field).

Has ability on slow tracks as evidenced by her 2nd race start where she won by 6.5 lengths in maiden class, running 2 seconds quicker than the other maiden that day.

She looks far too good today and any price above $1.5 is a good bet.

Hey Raw,

Good days racing, as it always is on Straddy day. Shame about the track being rain affected, but we can't really complain about the rain up here.

Race 1 - Like Devastating here. He doesn't like it when its firm now, but when the sting is out of the track, he seems to improve sharply. I think that in this field he can go close. Skyleda is obviously the danger given his wet track form. Byrne knows him well, so he'll just get him outside of horses and come right down the outside. High Academy is some sort of a chance, but i can never seem to get him on his day. He's been wide the trip at his last couple, so i'll give him another chance.

Race 2 - I'll stick with Roman Squire here, though the time he ran last start doesn't appear to be all that quick. Given that he is stepping up in distance and handles the wet, i'll leave him on top. Old Belevedere for 2nd. He handles the wet and it was a good run last time, the drop back in journey might suit him and he is right in this. And for 3rd i'll stick in Telegrand who is a mud-runner. He'll get to the outside and be running on into a hole at the death.

Race 3 - I'll go with Main Vein here. Has been winning in very good style in easier races his last couple. This isn't the strongest 3yo race you'll ever see so i think its a nice race for this bloke. Obviously the danger is Stirring who put in a top run in strong company last time and appears suited on the level weights here. Nice quinella i think. For 3rd i'll stick in Easy Rocker who has been running well in Toowoomba lately.

Race 4 - Really like Primal Impulse here. Loves Eagle Farm, goes well at the distance and can perform in the wet. Gets all the ticks for me. 6 or 7-1 is a nice price too. Aim So High is the danger for mine. Has gone well fresh in the past and can run good time on his day. Clevergaze for 3rd, who can run on well at the death if there is some good speed on.

Race 5 - Don't mind Key Bar Nights here. Its a bit of a guessing game with the wet, but this was a top run last time and if she holds that level, she is in this up to her ears. Falvalea can improve off the last run if she gets some luck. The run prior to that was super and a repeat would see her very competitive. Atomic Huss has ability also, and if she runs to her best, is a rough chance.

Race 6 - Think Xcellent is the one here. If he can handle the track and it isn't too chopped up on the fence by the time this race comes around, i think hes just too classy. It doesn't appear to be the best straddy, so i think that even with all the time off, he can win this. His win in the Mudgeway was super, and a repeat of that should see him home. Black Ink is a top chance if they ride him a bit cold. They led for some reason last year in this race and he race a great 5th, but i think he's better suited ridden cold and steaming home. Handles the wet nicely too, which is a bonus. Royal Ida is a super chance too, now that he comes to the bigger EF track. Handles the wet and might be the forgotten horse today. Chance at odds.

Race 7 - Don't mind Fort 'n' Won here. Has been ticking over nicely, the one problem is, though, he hasn't won a lead-up race yet. However, he gives ever impression that the extra ground will suit him nicely, and he has won in the wet before (with a lot of weight, too). So at good eachway odds, he'll do me. Sirmione grows a leg in Brisbane it seems. So if there is speed on, he is definately the testing material. Really like him. Resolution ran a good race at Doomben last time and he also ran well in the Derby over the ditch. If he can handle the ground, he is certainly there with a good chance.

Race 8 - Like Stylish Qualo here. I think that if he gets back with the speed on, he can storm down the extreme outside and win. Hasta La Ciao Ciao is the class of the race and can easily win this by 2 or 3 but i just don't like her at the 1000m...think its a little short to be confident. Top chance on class alone tho. Sequallan is good in the wet and can run time when he wants to aswell. Don't let him sneak under the guard.

Good days racing today with my best being Devastating, Primal Impulse and Xcellent with a good rough chance being given to Stylish Qualo in the last.

Good luck everyone,

Sven

Disgusting decision on the protest in the Derby I maybe talk through my pocket but I don't really give a ******** that horse moved out about 7 horses really disadvantaged Volcanic Star and wiped out Theseo and Resoultion on the line, I am sure if the odds were the other way around it would have made a difference.

i agree totally Raw although i was stuck on sirmione so although it didnt matter to me i wish they had collided a hundred out and joined eskimo queen in losing their jockeys lol.......Arnold never got a chance to ride his horse out fully and stretch it out. imo definite worth an upheld verdict.

in the stradbroke i got absolutely heartbroken......had an all-up going at the start of the day had 50 on skyleda in roman squire into Gold Edition............not happy Jan although i did have 25 each way Benedetti which got a good div for the place. I remembered it running a top race first up a few preps ago in sydney against good horses and i thought it could repeat.......other than that the day went terrible for me....... backed 3 winners outright all day they were Laila's Dream at the coast (tipped to me by it's owner), Riva San in the second in Melbourne and Hillston Exchange in the sixth in Melbourne.......wallet was very empty at the end of today's play.......................... but that's why god invented credit cards

Turned out to be a real good day for me with a nice win for the day but so close to being a pretty nice day for me.

Race 1: I ended up having a couple of $10 win bets here on High Academy and Bohemian Dancer thought the later was going to get there for a bit but Skyleda was to strong on the line, I liked Skyleda but the odds just weren't there to have anything on IMO. Small loss but nothing dangerous

Race 2: As much as I love Roman Squire $2.10 is far to short he is a real promising horse hopefully they can keep him in good order for a few more years as he gives the feeling he could turn into a real nice older horse and I do know he is 5 right now about to turn 6 not like he would be the 1st horse by Desert King to continue to improve as an older horse in this country. No bet here in the end other than a $10 all up that did no good

Race 3: had no bet here again couldn't get excited about this race

Race 4: I didn't mind Primal Impulse but I felt the odds were to short for the jockey that was engaged so I ended having $20 on Tenshi which i thought was a bit unlucky had a $3 quinella here with Primal Impulse, Tenshi & Solar Secret here shame Aim So High didn't fall over or something once again a loos but it was a sustainable one

Race 5: Left this race alone just couldn't get excited at all about it

Race 6: Earlier in the week I threw $50 on Sniper's Bullet at $9 and I am laughing now he always had the feel of a horse that with a guy like Williams involved I thought they would take advantage of the weight and try and push forward a bit when he landed where he did I was extremely confident he would win and that he did, I also had $10 e/w on Hard to Catch pre post wouldn't have touched him today but i thought his was a bottler of a run really hit the line hard, I had $5 e/w on Mr Ubiquitous on tuesday aswell at $61W and $16pl and had given up on him when the track had dried out a bit in the end he still nearly managed to survive the slaughter job from Seamer and almost pluck 3rd place. All in all a great result here didn't have a tri or anything just couldn't decide on one so getting $450 off of Sniper's Bullet pretty much made the day for me.

Race 7: After the win in the straddie I was happy but this was a tough derby and decided to have a stab at the 3 horses i had mentioned Resolution, King of the Nile and Volcanic Star having $10 e/w on them all and to be honest I was gutted here this was one of the worst protest decisions i have seen and good knows i have been on the wrong side of a few of them, if Oliver keeps Empires Choice straight as he is supposed to do he would not have won not to mention the inerference he caused to Volcanic Star. I feel bad for connections and trainer here as I really feel they were ripped it is hard enough for these guys to get horses to these races let alone winning them. I managed to have a win off of this race and keep on a bit of a roll

Race 8: Had $20 e/w on Stylish Qualo here and am still waiting for it to fire a shot very average effort. Lost $40 here but had that won anyway.

Good day and get to go to the local Rocky races tomorrow and see the Rocky Cup and Newmarket which have both been moved to sunday this year thanks to the inclement weather. Now just sit back and wait for monday and hope i can continue to roll there.

i think your being a bit pedantic on the protest, if memory serves me correct EC gave it a start and was clearly holding it on the line, i think volcanic star drifted out through to "intimidation" and i think you will agree Churchill Downs did not deserve that race(night race). the only "bump" was on/after the line. the right decision was made imo.

Race 1,
Nothing to interesting here..Skyleda suited by the track ,,,,
Race 2,,,got the exacta which paid nicely a few times,, and if Tentocountdown holds 3rd i'd have a got the tri 25times,,,but atleast a result,,
Race 3,No e/ws about Main Vein here...in the end a good race to watch,,,
Race 4,,same about this race,,,Clevergaze never a chance on this surface
RAce 5,backed Falontine here and with the good run clearly outclassed,,,maybe didint like the surface ??
Race 6,,,ALready on Gee I jane froma while back,,couldnt even hear her in the call,,then again i dont think Wayne called many in the race,,,,thought Benedetti looked very good in the yard and shoulda woulda coulda had something on if i was on the ball,,,Mitanni looked big and over the top,,clearly Shane cut him to peices last start...Goldie was sensational,,Snipers Bullet is a fantastic athletic looking horse and was good even with the light weight,,,
Race 7, Backed FortnWon ,,Stewart never fails to let me down..
RAce 8, Sir Monashee,,raced well i thought,,would have been a nice place collect but 4th to finish off a poor day..

I amnot being pedantic at all simply put Olive did not make his horse cover a straight course at all that horse moved a mile and at the time Volcanic was going as straight as a gun barrell, I have never been a fan of intmidation in an arguement but that was the 1st time I have felt it was warranted, If Volcanic Star holds a straight course while Empires Choice comes out on top of him then simply put neither one of them are in the finish and Sirmione wins the derby if they all hold a straight line I really feel Volcanic Star wins it not that anyone will ever know anyway they both pretty much were level all the way up the straight.

i think there is only one reason you wanted intimidation in this protest. the fact remains empires choice came from behind VC too beat it and VC wasnt disadvantaged by drifting out, UNTIL right on the line when it copped a bump, having no affect on the outcome of the race.

Yea ok you win I amnot about to start an arguement on an internet forum with someone I will never know anyway over this ******** good luck you won I didn't so who gives a ********, I wasn't the one that started the intimidation arguement you were I can't be bothered going back to look personally, the 2 horses did bump more than the once on the line the touched a couple of times earlier than that.
