Spot on Slowman. but I've only been in country Victoria for 5yrs. Melb. before that and the Gold cost as a youngster.
It's almost impossible for a junkie to get on a methodone program. Not enough places. Cost my mother easily $200,000 [fraud and stolen property] and me at least $70,000 over those years. Some of those kids have slipped my mother sleeping pills in her tea and left a window unlocked and came back an hour later to steal her pension money. They robbed me of heaps too because they just love it when you are 'trying to help them" [gives them a chance to rob you by 'helping' themselves !]. My young sister could get my wallet from my back pocket just giving me a hug. I wouldn't feel a thing ! Smarter than sewer rats by far and a lot more ruthless. Rob you while smiling at you. "would you like a nice cup of tea Gran/Uncle"? I'm sort of glad they are all dead. Out of their misery at last. If we were Heroin addicts we would be just like them too. It's a massive health problem, not a law and order [can never win it] problem. |
not one bit
i'll put in my two cents on this.................... like you crash i have been on the front line of the war on drugs and there is no help there from any gov dept its all up to the faimly of those close to clean up the mess left behind and like your mother trusting and beleiving in her own child and trying to fix a problem thats not hers but she some what blamed herself......the best thing to do would be have a free drug shop and say there you go,when you finish that bucket of drugs come and get another one,and by the if you keep this up you'll be dead in six months.............cheers....garrie...........

My sentiments exactly mate.
Save us all some grief but the economy would suffer terribly so not much chance of it ever happening. My sister got into it when she devorced with 3 kids. She lasted 25yrs. as a junkie. All her kids became junkies and died before her. 2 of them had kids too. Junkies breed junkies [good for the world economy]. I'm in the bush hiding from them [junkies]. My family broke up when I was 9yrs. old. I've done all right and so has my twin sister now living in Syd. My mother blamed herself [her divorce] when my young sister stuffed up. Killed herself with worry and despair. I did everything to protect her, but couldn't protect her from herself and the blame she took on. I left Melb. when she died. I'm over it, but I go on the boil when I hear 'just build more jails' mentality showing itself. Nil insight. |
Calm down Crash, I just happen to believe that we are all in control of our own decisons, I've made some horrific ones, that I regret, but don't shirk the responsibilty. I made my bed & now have to lie in it........so to speak.
On the question in topic, I have a son dying of hep c, I'm sure you know what a knife through the heart is, but you know even he says that it was his own doing! |
We get the society we create. There were no junkies here back in the 60's seventies [pot sure but I never inhaled] because everyone had good job opportunities and even free Uni. Now we have gone the American way and if you don't start 'advantaged' [good family, money for good schools preferably private and good peer groups]. It's an uneven playing field now. Try telling a Asian laborer in the Philippines with a family of 6 he is responsible for his poverty and poor family diet. Luck chooses which bed your born in. There ain't no level playing field. It's myth that the well off generate to feel good. The rich mostly stay rich and ditto the poor stay poor. Generally speaking, privilege or lack of it decides that.
I know how you feel though about kids [I have 2 kids out there but their doing well so far]. Hep C ************s kids for life [no energy] but they can live a long one if they keep off the grog and drugs and have a good diet. Knives through the heart I can relate too. How about dozens of spears ? Cheers. |
Crash, I've witnessed first hand the poverty of the Philippines and the RICH, so I agree up to a point, but that poor bloke with 6 kids chose NOT to accept the free condoms supplied by the Barangay, he also smokes and drinks Tandaway and Coka Cola every day instead of buying some decent grub!
See, I'm just a typical Gemini, I can always see the other point of view, but we were there man "72". have you seen that add on TV , a shot of Woodstock? the commentry asks "what happened to this lot"? well this is what happened; we all ended up iether "pathetic" or "appathetic". We'd better get back on to racing or they will delete the thread. Brindabella was a ****** good pick! how did yer do it? was it the 5th (3l) over 1700, or just the track record? or something else? |
My 2 cents.
If you go to a Country, you obey the laws or suffer the consequences. Knowing that a country has the death penalty, if one makes a decision to run the gauntlet, and one gets caught, one pays the price. If, one has been set up or "planted", then Justice should see one cleared. If the Justice system is flawed, one does not go to that Country. There is no way I'd go to certain Countries, knowing there is the slightest chance, that I could be given the death penalty for something I didn't have a hand in. The drug problem is rife everywhere, schools in Australia are full of drugs. Even at age 12 and 13, drugs are prolific. The only way to stop it it to stop the source. |

The drug problem is rife everywhere, schools in Australia are full of drugs. Even at age 12 and 13, drugs are prolific. .[/QUOTE] Depends on which school you go to or went to. As far as I'm aware it's no better or worse than 30 years ago when I was that age, and probably no different to 30 years before that. Just different drugs? |
Chrome your faith in the "Justice' huh! system after what you and I have experienced is like a breath of fresh air!
I think maybe the Singaporian Government is reveling in the publicity of the event for the deterrent value! But don't you think that choking someone to death on the end of a rope is particularly barbaric? |
The proliferation of drugs is much higher than it was, both the number and various types.
That's not to say it wasn't around 30 years ago, it is just more common now. My daughter goes to a public school and drugs are everywhere, my neice goes to a very expensive private school. The same amount of drugs are there too, just a different type. I do not believe in the death penalty, that's just my personal opinion. But if you willingly go somewhere knowing that is the law, and make a conscious decision to break that law then you deserve no less. I would rather someone suffer the indignity and mental turmoil of a life sentence, than a death sentence. The Justice system is greatly flawed, as are the laws of even this Country, but one has to abide those laws or pay the price. There are many injustices in this world, ranging from local to worldwide, and every day people flaunt the law, both moral and judicial, where's the justice in that? Anyway enough of my thoughts, it's not going to change anything. On to the races ;) |
