I like that idea, but you'll have to stress the importance of making the selections clear. Perhaps numbers and no names, e.g 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4,5/1,2,3,4,5 - $30 (4/5/5)

Also, what is a 'roving banker'?

And what do you think of the 'win' round idea

A 'Roving Banker' trifecta is where you pick out one horse which must finish either 1st, 2nd or 3rd and then any 2 of your other selections must fill the other two placings. So, if you can find a horse that you're pretty sure will run a place, it's not a bad idea.

Yeah, your idea is okay but maybe not the whole $100. Perhaps $50 or something like that. Another alternative would be to choose one 'best bet' each week for $50 and lift the total amount bet each week from $100 to $150 or something like that. I'll have a bit more of a think about it.

How can a 4-5-5 trifecta = $30 when a box 5 = $30.
Am i missing something?

Sorry luv2bet, you're exactly right. Of course it's only $24. I got a bit confused because it's the same amount as a 4 horse box for 1 unit.

Anyway, it'll all be sorted out when I finish posting the new rules which I'm doing right now.

Hi Sportz
How's about going freelance, $100 to bet however you want. Minimum of 2 races, maximum of 4, an all up bet counts as 1 race win or place, no restrictions on multi win bets, trifectas etc. The restriction of 4 races is to cut your workload down, a lot depends on how easy people make it for yoiu, it must be a pain in the rear sector for you seeing the mistakes made each week. I think an important rule would be if they make a mistake they wear it.

Yeah, it is a bit of a pain seeing all the mistakes, but it's okay. Anyway, I've made some changes to the win /each-way betting and the all-up to give people more choice. It's now possible to bet ALL your win/each way money on one race if you want. Or you could bet on 20 different races if you choose. Don't know that anyone will be doing that though. I think the changes to the all-up bet are also good. Will be interesting to see who goes for safety and picks horses for a place (probably me) and who goes all out picking horses to win. Likewise, it'll be interesting to see who goes for safety with the trifectas (again probably me) and who goes all out for a big return. I'm sure there'll be a few mistakes with the trifectas, but if people read the rules, it's not really all that difficult. With the trifectas, I'm worried a bit about scratchings. Could be a real problem, but we'll experiment with it for January anyway.

Yeah just saw the rules and they are a lot more user friendly, and a lot less restrictive. I tend to go all duck or no dinner a bit suicidal but I find that better than having to make selections just to fill up the tipping criterea. Your right about the scratching will be a pain especially the late ones, but a suggestion might be to replace them with a sub, the sub being the lowest number not in the tipster's selections.
