100 Rating Question

Folks a question I would like explained to me is the rating of each horse in the Newspaper.

Can anyone tell me how these Ratings are calculated (criteria etc)?

Is it each individual Horse rated against the rest of the field?.

How do we get the 100 Rating?.

Appreciate a rundown of this or a link of how it is done - who provides this info is another question?.

Cheers

Hi Aidleo,

It appears they're sourced from AAP. I found this vague description from Unitab:

http://unitab.com/unitab_help/help/racing/glossary.stm

Maybe talk to the folks from AAP.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks Schmile,

I have asked this question to various companies and had little luck, thanks for actually giving me a lead as to who actually provides this Rating Opinion.

I will try and contact AAP and press on ( wonder if I will receive a response)

One again Thanks for your help.

Nice one Aidleo,

Glad I could help a little.

I've also wondered how they were figured out. It'd be nice to know how much emphasis is put on weight, class, distance etc. to come up with the final rating.

What do you mean? Other days than Friday, or just Saturday's ratings earlier?

aidleo 4th February 2011 12:28 PM

(Saturdays Earlier ) Yes Sportz - Now that the Melbourne Acceptances are out Wednesday for Saturdays Fields I would like to look at the 100 Rating when I study the form on Wednesday & Thursday .

It appears I will have to just wait untill Fridays as I have been unable to find any site that has it up earlier.

Found a site Sportz, Unitab Link Below. They emailed me and informed me the 100 Ratings are up between 9AM & Midday the day before All Meetings (Perfect)

VicTab also have ratings published with their form on their website, however the timing of their appearance is somewhat erratic. They are often not available until the morning of the race meeting and are actually the Sky Ratings. These differ greatly from the ratings published by unitab. Obviously different criteria being used to assess a horses form by these two agencies.

Thanks Cracka, wasn't aware the Ratings were different

Cracka 10th February 2011 05:54 PM

No worries aidleo.
They can vary quite a bit too. Sometimes a Unitab 100 rater will only rated 69/79 on TAb ratings, so be wary that you may not get what you want from them. Became aware of this when researching an assessment of a system devised by a mate who is a bit of a left field thinker and then began researching something else for myself, which showed promise for 3 months then unceremoniously died in the A*se.
Unitab are great in having them up the night before and make them available to everyone. To get the VicTab (Sky) ratings you actually need an account with Vic Tab or otherwise go down to the local TAB and read them from their form posted on the walls there.
Good luck in finding what you need to get things going punt wise. Probably worth checking both out against the other depending on what criteria you add in addition to the 100 rater.

I don't think that is correct.

While I do have a Supertab account, I collect the Skyrate tips and tabrate ratings after the races when I'm not logged in and I have no problem.

Just click on the "FORM" or the "TIPS" tab and it will take you to the ratings.
