My Melbourne Cup System
Here's a stand-out trifecta system I've been using with success on the M.Cup.
1 ) All horses at $21 in the Tuesday morning Daily Telegraph's market to win. 2 ) Field by Field to run second and third. I have checked the results back to day one when trifectas were introduced. I seem to remember it was the year Just A Dash won. The trifecta has been struck every year, and in the past 20-odd years there have been two occassions when the tri paid in excess of $60,000 - the year when Vintage Crop won, and the second occasion was when there was a dead-heat for third. I can't remember who won, and also the divvies in previous years. But the year when Tawriffic won I think the divvy was quite substantial. As a $1 outlay totals approx $4,500 (scratchings drastically reduce this which happens most years) the max outlay over the past 20 years would be about $90,000 - the two $60,000 divvies would more than cover the outlay. Since the introduction of flexi-betting I have been betting this system and am showing a good profit even though none of the divvies have been too high. The best year was when Makybe Diva won its first Cup. The divvy here in NSW was approx $13,000 yet it paid $20,000 at either Unitab or Tabcorp. Since betfair has been operating I have also been Dutch-betting the selections and am showing a good profit. If I remember correctly, last year I got Efficient slightly over $30. Hopefully the Forum Curse will now not strike. |
Also an observation for the Melbounre Cup program is that an Adelaide visitor always seems to win a race on the day (usually the lead up races to the MC) at big odds, I don't have any stats to back it up, just something I've noticed over last few years.

I'm not sure how the trifecta has been struck each year, wasn't Makybe Diva fave in the last two of her wins?
Was she $21 in the market on the tuesday? Maybe I missed something sorry |
Sorry, Schmucta80 - I should have stated "all horses up to $21".
For some reason this year the Tuesday Tele only showed the TAB divvies and not the market. However, if they had I don't think Viewed would have been $21 or less. The Forum Curse...? |
