Hey Mav,
Just got back from the league test. Not a real fan of the nrl but it was a good night out, and can't wait for the races tomorrow. They've got together a great day and i'm really keen.
Race 1 - Don't mind Doonan Dancer here. Will be on pace, which suits around the coast and gets to a more suitable distance here. 1200m isn't long enough for him - he finds em too quick and can't get to the lead. I think he can run well at odds. Rampant Lion will put in a better performance tomorrow, if ridden a bit more aggresively. Birthday Bash was a good return, but the 2nd up form is a worry. Nice place chance if the pace is on.
Race 2 - Not my sort of race. Clang Edition shuld be cherry ripe for this one, given his last run (peaking 50m out). With that under his belt, he won't be far off them. Point of Honour might run a nice race here too, from the 1 alley. Has ability this one, and there has been money around for him in a few of his runs. Motivate might find the straight a bit short, but has a strong finish when there is pace on.
Race 3 - Great race this one. Ghetto Blaster's problem is the alley, but i think he is very good. If he gets in (Colless is a massive plus on that front) i think he can trouble these. One at odds that i think has good ability and can figure is Captain Lightning. A few wraps floating around for this one. Will be on pace and can stick on around this course. Sweet As must have ability, for Dwyer to have it here. Place chance if they run along out in front. Plenty of other chances though. That is a top field.
Race 4 - Another good race. I love Prend but think she is a lay tomorrow. She won't have enough room to wind up tomorrow, in my view. She really only got going the last 150m or so at EF last time, and that luxury won't be afforded to her at the Gold Coast. I don't Mind Caos Cross. The Cape Cross breed are doing well, and can get ground no worries and with Cahill on board i think she is a top chance. Vietnam was a nice run last time, but the straight is a worry with her too. Prend has loads of ability and i love the way she races but i can't have her on top tomorrow, but she is definately the one when she returns to EF over some ground. Oaks/Derby is perfect for her.
Race 5 - Tough, tough race. Barrier has got Master Denis again. If he draws the inside, he goes really close. I can't have him from out there though. Mav's tip Diamondsondinside is the one for me here too. Can find his fair share of trouble, but Byrne is quality and shouldn't get him into too much traffic. I think he can finish over the top of them here. Fashions Afield is quality and will be right in the firing line all the way, but the pressure will be on from the word go here and that won't suit this horse. Master Denis will have to get a long way back again (same as in the millions race), but he has loads of talent and can figure in the placings.
Race 6 - The hard races just don't stop. Theres about 10 i'd like to include here
. There should be lots of speed here, with Tornado Alley, Impaler and Messiaen. For that reason (and possibly because i am totally mad), i don't mind Amex. I havent come across a more unreliable horse, but his Gold Coast record is great and he has drawn the right alley. Whiteley has a great record on him too. Hard to Catch was a massive run at the goat track last time, coming from the tail. Top chance. Daunting Lad, as Mav said, really attacked the line at EF last time, but eh 12 alley is the concern. Patillo is riding well though.
Race 7 - Like Devastating. Didnt get any room last time, but will be ready for this one and i think he can go mighty close. Has loads and loads of ability when he is right. Byrne knows him well too. Roman Arch is coming off good form down south and can figure here, while rock hard fit. Ike's Dream isn't a horse i can come into, but should be respected i suppose, from that stable.
Race 8 - Nice one to finish on. I like Coincidental. Colless has wasted for this one, which is a great lead. She has the good weight, good jock and the first up fitness run. I think she'll go mighty close. Princess Margaret got nothing her own way last time out and can improve here with a softer run. She has plenty of ability. La Montagna is right on her way to the 10000 and can cement her spot in that race with a good performance in this race. And if the speed is on, theres no doubting she can run right over the top of these.
Great days racing tomorrow, the Coast will be going off. I haven't really got a best bet, its too hard but Doonan Dancer and Captain Lightning could run good races at odds.
Best of luck to everyone tomorrow. Enjoy the great racing!
