Gold Coast Saturday
Last week the e?????s said it was a hard card...i didnt see it that way but tomorrow i agree with them...taken me 3 days of ratings headaches to get an idea here .and i have alot of races where i've alot of top raters.....the good thing about a day like tomorrow is theres good value around so you can back more than just the one runner and i think its a good plan of attack...
Good luck tomorrow...i'll be having a big one after such a good last Saturday and some good results this week,,but i'm not super confident. Race 1 Looks a hard race. Last start i gave Shilo a chance even with the wide barrier and he did well to go down only a length especially down the E/F straight..If Beadman gets him across to the rails and rates him well he could win this. The rail back in the true now so so the inside early on could be a big advantage...a tough ask from the even wider barrier here ,,but he could do it.Radar Orielly is an interesting runner..i remember him flying home first up last time after racing wide..he could give this a shake 1st up here but the track doesnt really suit...and Birthday Bash did very well last start in a hot time..he doesnt really go that well here or 2nd up but Colless helps his cause..... These the top three for me...sort of race where you could make a case for most of them...I keep thinking that if Shilo had drawn a good barrier he would be fairly short here and i'm a fan of Radar ..the odds should be pretty good so i should be able to back both of them...the track specialist Short way will give alot of cheek up front..make sure hes there in your tris ect with Birthday Bash.. Race 2. Motivate and Clang Edition on top for me...both look well suited ..the odds for Clang Edition are pretty good but there were some positive signs for Motivate last start...even though i think he still had enough time to win...But JB sways it narrowly Motivates way here but only just....Clang edition is above average and a big chance,,,an interesting runner is Point Of Honour who charged home from a mile back here last time he raced here...Colless will give him the cosy run and he could surprise,, Motivate one last time.. Race 3. What a race...the two slipper runners of Maunds dominate betting and so they should...doesnt look a betting race for me..but Pure Energy looks pretty good here...Lynch prefers Goldy but Pure Energy seems to have the wood on her ...if you like roughies Ring Ring did well last start and Sweet As has ability,,,Ghetto Blaster with the master with the youngies will be in the mix aswell....,,I'd lean towards Pure Energy who has alot of heart but if the rail is the place to be jump on to Goldy who will be tough to run down .....no value in this race at all ,,,but watch the 1st couple of races and get a guide to any bias... Race 4. Gaze and Super Lacuna arent very easy horses to rate...both have ability..but i'm sticking to the horses i know...especially on the good track...Prend was fantastic last start,,was super strong the last 50 and another horse Vietnam was also very impressive when he finally got clear,,,The jockey leans me towards Prend again ,,,and it looks like I'm tipping a big day for JB ...Hayils Magic was good last start but the alley is a worry and with the benifit of the inside barrier and not a heap of speed in the race Super Lacuna has a big show also.....i'm not very confident in this race but still think Prend and Vietnam will be the ones running on when it counts and at the odds might be able to back both of them... Race 5. Found a 10/1 shot here in DiamondsontheInside ,,,,i'm a huge fan of Strawbery Malt and i think she follows Fashions Afield across and they'll both be up on the speed....they'll have to do a bit of work so i think a horse drawn well with a strong finsh could win this.....tereshenko 1st up 1400m ?? interesting ?? Moody isnt an idiot and he would have this horse primed for this race.....Fashions will be hard to beat but i'm hoping they pressure her up front ...Strawbery will run a huge race as usual....Emit time looked good last start and from the inside with Beadman on board will give a good site...and who could forget Master Dennis flying home from miles back when he was here last the barrier worries me but if they ride him like that again he could steal this..... can't tip them all and if theres no bias ...Diamondsontheinside e/w Race 6. I have 4 horses here very evenly rated, Amex, Daunting Lad, Deuxime, Consular....i usually just leave these races alone...but i'm a massive fan of Deuxieme and with Colless aboard it just seals the deal...he looked good last start as did Amex who loves the track,,...and i was stunned with Daunting Lad..he just exploded to victory last start...he usuals winds up but last start Patillo just pushed the nitro button,,but he hasnt drawn the good barrier he has enjoyed of late.........Impaler is right in this race and i still probably have missed the winner.....Umatrick a lightweight knockout chance...Consular as brave as always... Deuxieme for me at the good odds.(i've already had a nibble at the 100's for the straddie)...but at the 6's its worth having something on the Lad aswell.. if they are winning on the rail....i'd be looking at Impaler to get over the top of tornado alley.. Race 7. Ikes Dream looks a good bet on such a hard card...Some might say the track wont suit but she looks a class above them..Roman Arch as tuff as nails will be in the hunt and Mahtoum was good last start ,,,if you like huge roughies Classic Carla at 100's caught my eye last start...hes been set for the Brissie cup and i've had a nibble at the 26's as i think the race will be void of any real class......Devastating will improve here and Villa bleds last couple of runs have been encouraging.. Doesnt look any value in this race But Ikes Dream should be winning.. Race 8. Love and Money at 10's looks value...should get the cosy run on the rail and ran on well last start,,,,,The Princess back against the girls will be hard to catch and who could forget Coincidental last time here,,,i was alittle dissapointed with Coincidental last start but hes bound to be improved...if Single Rose gets a start shes right in this after a massive run last start even with the bad barrier.....and La Montagna was unbelievable last start,,, if the odds permit i might have something on her aswell,,,,,but Love and Money at the e/w's looks a good bet... A friggin hard day tomorrow....J/B for Best Bets,,,,Motivate, Ikes Dream, Prend Best e/w's.... Love and Money, Deuxieme, Good Luck all...its needed tomorrow ..and go the Kangarooooossssssss |

Tough old day this one but what a day of races it is.
Race 1: Hard race to start the day out and I couldn't be overly confident with anything here I do like 3 horses though Doonan Dancer, Get Salty and Hamah. If forced to pick out of the 3 of them I would probably lean towards Doonan Dancer he has the ability to settle in a forward position and should get a nice run at pretty good e/w odds after that Hamah has to be a chance has been hitting the line nicely lately and should be decent odds again I wouldn't leave him out of your multiples. Race 2: I amnot overly interested n this one however I do think that Mikan has a good chance of winning was a very nice run behind Legendary Man last start and I think it would only have to repeat that performance to have a good chance here. Race 3: Once again not overly interested in this race you would think that Pure Energy would start a deserved fav but can it back up from a fairly tough campaign. One horse I have had a bit of time for is Cole Trickle not sure if it will be upto winning tomorrow but might be worth a small e/w bet if they ride him back he will hit the line nicely and you just never know in racing anything can happen. Race 4: I am a huge fan of Prend and think it will go extremely close in this race it absolutely ate up the turf late last time and probably should have won just not sure what sort of odds we will see tomorrow would want atleast 4 or 5-1 for a horse with it's racing style, outside out that I like half of the field Hayil's Magic, Magic Harmony, Caos Cross, Vietnam and even the 4th emergency who has no chance of gaining a start Legal Engagement. If I had to search for a bit of value it might be Caos Cross but I do think that Prend will be extremely hard to hold out. Race 5: Tough race and I will be looking towards some value here i Master Denis hopefully they will just snag him back and let him get one run at them we all saw his last run it was enormous a repeat could prove hard to hold out, another horse I have a little bit of time for is Rumbird probably not upto this class but it is amazing how many times you see horses like it run out of there skin is these races. Race 6: Another hard race here think I might have said that before I like 3 horses here Amex, Top Marc and Show Biz Kid but seriously just about any horse in the field could be winning this Consular would probably be the one I would be most worried about outside of the 3 I mentioned. Not sure what I am going to back will wait and see what odds come up tomorrow but I am fairly certain I will have something e/w on Top Marc. Race 7: I am going to take on Ike's Dream here she is probably the class horse of the field however she is suspect beyond 1600m I feel that way even despite the last run, I think Devastating has a big chance of winning this race was a good run last start and I would imagine 3rd up 2000m should suit him to a tee I am also a fan of Cinque Cento however I do feel she has been extremely disappointing this prep if she is ridiculos odds tomorrow I might put something on her outside of that Octapussy looks a very serious race horse and I think Serenote might be worth a e/w ticket. All in all I will probably back Devastating for the win and Serenote e/w Race 8: Love and Money for me here we could be jinxing it Mav I have always been a fan of this horse and it looks like it should settle into a great spot again from a sweet draw, La Montagna picks itself but she will be spotting them a big start just a matter of whether she can get there in time. I also don't mind Free Roller has to be a bit of a chance as does Countess Bathory might just come down to how I am travelling at this stage but I will definitely be backing Love and Money. |

What about Merlot Now Mav ????
I think tomorrows the day !!! S Nolen on him (one ride all day) he's probably given up 3-4 rides at The provincials & big spaces of Flemington in Favour. * I cant see them beating Ikes dream tomorrow , End of. ** I like Prend but not tomorrow, I dont like mixing superstition with Punting Butt, when a horses form is 32, the percentage of winners must be a whole 1%. Anyone else noticed this. This is the only time i apply superstition. |

Will definately keep one eye on the state of the track then.
Another one to look out for is in the 1st in melbourne, SW Arnold down for one ride all day #6 Villa Alvarado. Arnold killed 'em in Adelaide last week (Marju Snip) and i'm surprised hes got the one ride with all the major jocks away. |

Hey Mav,
Just got back from the league test. Not a real fan of the nrl but it was a good night out, and can't wait for the races tomorrow. They've got together a great day and i'm really keen. Race 1 - Don't mind Doonan Dancer here. Will be on pace, which suits around the coast and gets to a more suitable distance here. 1200m isn't long enough for him - he finds em too quick and can't get to the lead. I think he can run well at odds. Rampant Lion will put in a better performance tomorrow, if ridden a bit more aggresively. Birthday Bash was a good return, but the 2nd up form is a worry. Nice place chance if the pace is on. Race 2 - Not my sort of race. Clang Edition shuld be cherry ripe for this one, given his last run (peaking 50m out). With that under his belt, he won't be far off them. Point of Honour might run a nice race here too, from the 1 alley. Has ability this one, and there has been money around for him in a few of his runs. Motivate might find the straight a bit short, but has a strong finish when there is pace on. Race 3 - Great race this one. Ghetto Blaster's problem is the alley, but i think he is very good. If he gets in (Colless is a massive plus on that front) i think he can trouble these. One at odds that i think has good ability and can figure is Captain Lightning. A few wraps floating around for this one. Will be on pace and can stick on around this course. Sweet As must have ability, for Dwyer to have it here. Place chance if they run along out in front. Plenty of other chances though. That is a top field. Race 4 - Another good race. I love Prend but think she is a lay tomorrow. She won't have enough room to wind up tomorrow, in my view. She really only got going the last 150m or so at EF last time, and that luxury won't be afforded to her at the Gold Coast. I don't Mind Caos Cross. The Cape Cross breed are doing well, and can get ground no worries and with Cahill on board i think she is a top chance. Vietnam was a nice run last time, but the straight is a worry with her too. Prend has loads of ability and i love the way she races but i can't have her on top tomorrow, but she is definately the one when she returns to EF over some ground. Oaks/Derby is perfect for her. Race 5 - Tough, tough race. Barrier has got Master Denis again. If he draws the inside, he goes really close. I can't have him from out there though. Mav's tip Diamondsondinside is the one for me here too. Can find his fair share of trouble, but Byrne is quality and shouldn't get him into too much traffic. I think he can finish over the top of them here. Fashions Afield is quality and will be right in the firing line all the way, but the pressure will be on from the word go here and that won't suit this horse. Master Denis will have to get a long way back again (same as in the millions race), but he has loads of talent and can figure in the placings. Race 6 - The hard races just don't stop. Theres about 10 i'd like to include here . There should be lots of speed here, with Tornado Alley, Impaler and Messiaen. For that reason (and possibly because i am totally mad), i don't mind Amex. I havent come across a more unreliable horse, but his Gold Coast record is great and he has drawn the right alley. Whiteley has a great record on him too. Hard to Catch was a massive run at the goat track last time, coming from the tail. Top chance. Daunting Lad, as Mav said, really attacked the line at EF last time, but eh 12 alley is the concern. Patillo is riding well though. Race 7 - Like Devastating. Didnt get any room last time, but will be ready for this one and i think he can go mighty close. Has loads and loads of ability when he is right. Byrne knows him well too. Roman Arch is coming off good form down south and can figure here, while rock hard fit. Ike's Dream isn't a horse i can come into, but should be respected i suppose, from that stable. Race 8 - Nice one to finish on. I like Coincidental. Colless has wasted for this one, which is a great lead. She has the good weight, good jock and the first up fitness run. I think she'll go mighty close. Princess Margaret got nothing her own way last time out and can improve here with a softer run. She has plenty of ability. La Montagna is right on her way to the 10000 and can cement her spot in that race with a good performance in this race. And if the speed is on, theres no doubting she can run right over the top of these. Great days racing tomorrow, the Coast will be going off. I haven't really got a best bet, its too hard but Doonan Dancer and Captain Lightning could run good races at odds. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow. Enjoy the great racing! Sven |
