Can anyone explain to me why they are not attacking this new Austote as promoted on this site?Or are they to be next after the demise of Betfair? As someone else stated, wherever there is the volume of megabucks, there is bound to be corruption. It is not confined to horseracing.Look at some trotting races, look at athletes taking performance enhancing drugs, boxers taking a dive,Alan Bond,Christopher Skase the guy who rorted the UK millionaire show, the list goes on.The bottom line is not corruption, because Oz racing is probably the cleanest in the world.Sure,we've had the famous leg pulling incident, the jockey tapes, jockeys using batteries, but with modern technology that can't happen anymore.I just can't get my head around the argument that backing horses to lose creates corruption. With stewards vigilance and modern tech it's virtually impossible to get away with.Consider this;if you back horse A in a race, are you not backing all other runners to lose? And when you bet with a licensed bookmaker? If he has a horse at 100/1,isn't he backing it to lose? The thinking by those in power just defies any kind of rationality or logicallity. The bottom line is GREED and not wanting to release the grip and monoply on the goose that lays the golden egg. It's avoiding the real issue of us punters getting what is supposed to be part of our heritage as Aussies, and that is "A fair go."The punter doesn't figure in this,it is purely and simply a power struggle, flexing the muscles to see who is the strongest. Please do not kid yourselves,we as punters are not going to be the winners.
