Win % of Fav. in different race Categories
I have always coped a bit of flack about my general belief than certain races are poor betting propositions. I'm interested to know what % of favourites win any of or all of the below race categories and the Fav's. average SP price in these categories. If someone has the data bank to work this out, I would be very pleased to know. On the up side for the effort involved, you have an opportunity to prove me misguided !!
1000m races. F&M races. Stakes races [all inclusive]. Cup races. Slow track races [only]. Races with more than 14 runners [all above that amount inclusive]. The fact that we know the overall favourite SR from all races really doesn't tell us a lot, nor can it be used as a guide to selecting the best races to bet on. Now I have to take up the challenge Crash Overall S/R 30.44% Avg Price $2.85 1000m races S/R 32.76% Avg Price $2.66 F&M races. S/R 30.95% Avg Price $2.82 Stakes races [see below]. Cup races. (need more info - there are very many classes of cups) Slow track races [only] S/R 28.49% Avg Price $2.98 Races with more than 14 runners S/R 21.55% Avg Price $3.57 In general as the strike rate goes down the average price goes up to compensate, so the loss remains relatively the same in the longrun.

Just as I suspected. About the same. In fact, the favs in F&M races fared slightly better than overall favs. |

Chrome, interesting stuff there, I have been mucking around with my own database recently and have come up with some interesting angles eg. when queried distance winners only I was shocked to see a LOT, so reversed the query i.e. "not a distance winner" and blow me came up with a 28% POT, any explanation?
Also, are you able to put one more query to your database i.e. First up only up to and including 1200m?? |

Thanks Guys, I figured the prices would go up or down in relation to Fav. SR but my conclusions as far as selection difficulty would need to be compared to races I HAVE been betting on over the years to draw any conclusions to weather I have been better off.
SR and average price on: 1100m to 2040m Handicaps races with 7- 14 runners. For the Cups races missed, SR and average price on all Cups races inclusive would be fine as I have been excluding them all. |
