Heres is something you may like to try which has shown some intersting results.
Target one runner in every race that is paying $33 If not one available , take the next price down e.g. $32 ect. until one finds a selection. I can almost guarantee to hit one or two winners within 30-35 bets. Have a bank ratio of 1:250 Level stakes. Cheers.

If one targeted the rank outsider in all races the with 10 runners & less .
I think one will find the SR to be around 2-4% The POT or LOT may vary wildly. The run of outs could be anything . e.g. 65+

So you are saying it could be as low as 1 winner for every 100 bets or even lower

If you go to Adrian Massey site you can find figures for various odds. basically once you go above 20/1 to 100/1 you will lose between 50 and 70 per cent of your investment regards |

Using UniTAB prices using the chasing the $33 or less plan. 3 winners were struck paying $20 $23 $30 Out of 23 races =13% SR Ret $73 Prof +50 = 217% POT Cheers.
