Default RIP Let’s Elope

Champion mare Let's Elope has died peacefully in her sleep, aged 29.
Won both the 1991 Caulfield & Melbourne Cups.
She was Australia’s champion racehorse for the 1991/92 season, winning seven consecutive feature races in the care of the late Bart Cummings.
Record 26: 11-0-5
Earnings A$2,940,250 - NZ$42,925 - US$169,000

Bred in NZ,,specifically Highview Stud in Hamilton
Purchased for NZ$16,000 at the 1989 New Zealand Magic Millions sale. Later sold on to OZ owners for NZ$150,000

She was a mighty mare. In 1991 won the Cups double (first mare in more than 50 years to complete that) & the Mackinnon Stakes. Her 1992 Australian Cup win was outstanding.

She was overlooked for the Hall of Fame for a while there, but justifiably inducted in 2012. That year also included Takeover Target, Octagonal, Redcraze & High Caste.
