Most of the horses that i have money on that are slaughtered seem to be in melbourne [mostly by so-called top jockeys]. Is that the case for most people ,or am i betting in the wrong state, already stopped betting in sydney because they have the poorest saturday fields i've ever seen [brisbane and adelaide are better betting propositions]

probably the same everywhere.
you know what i think of sydney.
needs new management and maybe less government involvement.
lacks ideas.

lots of racing look unusual but we are suspicious.

for instance had darren been riding in the last at belmont yesterday i would be caning him.
looked a bit soft.

i enjoy the chase but am very wary of the game.
a story i was told from good authority.
a gang of punters had the good oil on a race at kembla and took the day off to plunge including the trainer.

the horse got 4th. after the race the explanation by the jockey was that when he got to the barriers he was informed it was not his turn.
the lost plunge couldnt be avoided due to the peers determining the result.
so the story goes.
the source is reliable (has the burnt fingers to prove it)

There are lots of these stories around Topsy.I posted one involving a N.S.W. gaol ******** ,where the prisoners were giving the warders tips for Saturdays races in Sydney.
The whistle blower was a disgruntled warder who had been cut out of the game.He reported the ******** & the following Saturdays tips were obtained as proof.They proved to be highly accurate.This was briefly reported in the Cairns Post,never to be seen or heard of again.All dismissed now as anecdotal.

When I was knocking around Victoria I had a very heavy duty friend.
Well this particular day we were knocking off an amber or 2 in the local when i got up to put a bet on .This friend asked me what I was betting .I showed him and his rely "" no ya mug x horse is going to win this one.The jockeys wife is having their first baby and this is the jocks present to them""
Now this horse was something like 50/1 but now who am I to argue with such persuasive logic especially from THIS friend.
So on went the dough.This horse had a dream run openings everywhere .Just to make it interesting though they did give chase when it was all over.
A nice win on the day and my mate refused to take a penny for the tip.
I wish some of these other tipsters around were so generous.

I think this thread is talking more the exeption rather then the rule. Far to many favourites, and horses with good lead up form get home to doubt the integrity of MOST of our jockeys. For the most part they do a good job but like everyone people make mistakes. There is only one, one out one back position in a race, if we get it the jockeys a master, if we miss it he's a **********???

i agree. opportunities to win races dont fall out of trees.
if i owned a horse i am sure i would want to win every race i could. as history demonstrates its a very good horse that wins a good percentage of its races.

bad rides are more likely than questionable rides.

Oh Wilburrr! I think this thread is talking the tip of the iceberg.Many trainers would go broke relying on their nags for a win.
It's the side bets & "in the know scuttlebut" that gives a select few the edge.
You can't beat it but at least acknowlege & be aware!

QUE. I was born and bred in the industry.
I could tell you a million funny stories of skullduggery .
Not as blatant these days or maybe a bit more cunning??
More likely around the small country tracks.
Anyone from Townsville and remember the 4 gallon drum of money found at the jockeys house.??
