That John Alexander's a wacko. Can you believe that he actuallt said Samantha Stosur could win Wimbledon??? Seriously, what was he on? I notice, she's just lost in the first round.

A rather ordinary start to Wimbly going 3-4 for the tiniest of gains. Obata losing ruined my chance of a good day.

TUESDAY

Ivanovic v Douchevina
Round 1

Douchevina 9/4 on grass afetr reaching last weeks Eastbourne final. Ivanovic is 0/1 and is first-up on grass. Douchevina can be a bit up-and-down but strange prices - Ivanovic's Junior grass form is nothing special.

Douchevina $2.15 generally available 1 Unit

Brandi v Schiavone
Round 1

Brandi won Surbiton Challenger in warm-ups though her later for was mixed. Solid 40/21 grass record. Schiavone is first-up on grass and while she has a reasonable Wimbledon record, she is only 8/10 on grass.

Brandi $1.83 @ Pinnacle 1 Unit

Hantuchova v Linetskya
Round 1

Hantuchova's not in the best from at the moment having suffered a couple of
unexpected warm-up losses but grass is her best surface. Her 22/14 record includes wins over some quality players while her Wimbledon record is respectable. Linetskya yet another Russian up-and-comer with good credentials but value is with Hantuchova.

Hantuchova $1.71 @ Pinnacle Half unit

Tu v Peer
Round 1

Tu had the better warm-up with 4 good games at Birmingham and is 16/15 on grass. Peer had one warm-up for one loss which is her only WTA appearance on grass. She's a good hardcourt player so may have claims but not as favourite.

Tu $2.20 @ Will Hill Half Unit

Foretz v Chladkova
Round 1

Not much between these two. Foretz underrated - she's 16/12 on grass but hasn't played partcularly well at Wimbly in past. Has quite good lead up form from Birmingham. Chladkova 12/16 on grass with similar Wimbly record to Foretz. Her lead up form mixed. Fairly even match - value with outsider.

Foretz $2.10 Ladbrokes Half Unit

Fujiwara v Bartoli
Round 1
Bartoli, who's been struggling all year with injury, retired yet again at Eastbourne 5 days ago. She's a moderate 7/8 on grass and has very mixed lead up form. Fujiwara has a 21/10 record though there's not mant top players in her wins. She had a solid 5 game warm-up in Birmingham and lists grass a sher favourite surface.

Fujiwara $2.71 @ Pinnacle Half Unit

Poutchek v Santangelo
Round 1

Battle of the no-hopers. Both girls coming of clay with Poutchek having slightly better form. Both girls also came through Qualies with Poutchek having slightly better results. Santangelo is 1/5 on grass prior to Wimbly while Poutchek is 3/6.
A slight edge to Poutchek so I'll take outside value.

Poutchek $2.40 @ Pinnacle Half Unit.
(better prices at smaller bookies)

Rabbitz - short of time so quickly: You make a very good point. Serena won't win Wimbly and she is struggling. Craybas would have to play the game of her life or Serena retire - both possible but the latter more likely. The only way to get value is to lay Serena on Betfair - prices around $1.07 (there's a lot of people doing same thing).
