Does anyone know where to get any onling tutorials on how to start out using this program. I have played around but i can;t make any sense of it AT ALL. It doesn;t seem to be very well documented online. I want to build up a past results database but i don;t even know where to start.

Did you go as far as creating a new database and a new table in the database?
Where do you intend to get your results from? Type it in?
Also, what kind of info do you want to keep? Like date racenumber, venue, winning horses name or just the TAB number, win_div place_div? Are you intersted in keeping the results of the exotics as well, what about the win and place pools etc.
These are the things you have to work out first.
But typing it in is a tedious process.

Have a look at these sample tables , one is for win place results the other is for the exotics. (here they are converted to excel files for easier access)
There are reasons for keeping them in separate tables but not essential.
If you get off the ground I would be happy to supply you with some past results to get you started, free of course.

Then there are options only you can decide upon to start coding.
To start coding, it's popularity is increasing and it's no secret but check out
www.realbasic.com and download the demo then decide your options.

I guarantee you in 12-18 months if you *realy* want it, you will have your own database.

Surpisingly I use Access database and code in C++ and at work, we use Machine language. (we write code for industrial processes, like lathes, milling machines etc.)
Next time, before I post any examples, I will search the entire net to make sure my samples are not in the least similar to anything available.
How a table of results, that is based on only so many available fields could be made different in appearance, so as not clash with something you may have seen, is beyond me.
You achived something though, I'll be stuffed before I offer any help to anyone ever again.

What I have recommended is for those serious enough to punt with today's technology because the fact is, there is no software for punting unless one learns make your own add-ons.
Meaning, "add-on" to/from existing data services.
Then that data made available can be built to personal custom made databases.

The direction I presented to TS is where many programmers do endores Filemaker Pro and can be easily learnt and much advice available from that software devlopment's own "newbie list". It's there, all I did was point direction for that kind of information.
Making databases is not easy.

That's ok, don't get me wrong. But I have no job cos I need no job,yet I do work cos I like what I do out of choice and to get away from the punt from time to time and mix with the rest of society at the gym.
