Doomben Races Saturday
Hi guys ..back in Brissie just in time for the storms. Looks like the track will be rain affected but you never know at Doomben ..such a good drying track.
like a few tomorrow ..hoping to do better than last week where i had my first losing day for yonks.. Race 1. Not an easy race this one ..will probably sit this one out.. Adavale Hornet looks well placed ..inside barrier and the claim ...just wouldnt be taking anything short at this stage,, hasnt beaten much and got away with murder last start and in the wet ?? ..thought Foriegn title worth an e/w ..should race better from the draw ...won at the track and distance and should sit at Adavales girth and be stronger at the end. Race 2. Angel girl raced well last start..balanced up and hit the line hard..looks well placed here.. Race 3. Lasting luck was ultra impressive last start...looks strong this horse and should win this..Alladins Lion with Colless the main threat.. Race 4. Amber Lodge's run last start was huge ..sat wide and kept on fighting ..should take the sit outside Arreeba Arreeba and be right in this at the end....My speed map has Seronote awkwardly placed in the running as theres alot of back markers circling the field here..but if she gets a fair crack at them she'll be hard to hold out... Amber Lodge at better than the 5.50 ..and likes the wet aswell. Race 5. Was on Innitials last start and again looks well placed .. the extra distance youd think would suit..as he's been hitting the line so hard..,Minoa the danger Race 6. Daunting LAd just looked so good last start...the freshen suits and only has to cope with barrier to win this...was ridden poorly last start ..Pattilo is very underated and will give him a better run..i'll be at the track and if he looks half as good as last start i'll be jumping on..probably my bigget bet of the day..very confident. Race 7. Pity theres rain about..as i really really liked Deuxieme here but hes hopeless in the wet..if the track drys out by 420 which it might i'll be on ..if not i'll be looking at Zauberie e/w who loves the wet and looked good last start.. Admiral Spy a bolter for the multis... Race 8. Thats better a good chance against this lot..ridden poorly last start and has beaten much better than this..no weight and a good jockey.. Grandway Shogun even with the weight is right in this also.. Best is Daunting Lad and innitials Good Luck all .. |

it bucketed down here on the south side of Brissie but you know storms sometimes down the road they'll miss most of it.. Doomben drys out so fast and if the sun comes out early it still could be a good track.. Hard when doing the form so early ..i'll be at the track and will be waiting to last minute before i do anything.. hoping its a good track as i really like Duexieme .. |

G'day Mav,
Good days racing tomorrow. I hope everyone in and around Brisbane came out of the storm unscathed - biggest we've had here in a while. Race 1 - Agree with you Mav that this is a tough one to start on, form lines everywhere. Maybe Shakespearian can figure at long odds. Trainer knows what hes doing and the senior jockey in Stewart should ensure a good run (the alley is somewhat awkward though). Super Stardom beat a horse i've got a strong opinion of last time, and the extra distance looks ideal - can figure. Avadale Hornet won well last time, and with the claim and the 1 gate, should put in a bold effort again tomorrow. Race 2 - Liked the way City Lights ran the other day at the Coast. I realise that the drop back in distance is probably the worst thign that could happen at this stage, given the way he finishe off, but he'll derive plenty of benefit from the run. With Cahill and the top trainer, i'll give him a big chance. Unswerving is a J.Hawkes first starter, and bears close watching with the gate and the claim. Be Good Johnny has been around the place of late and will most likely be there again with the claim. Race 3 - Lasting Luck is about ready to win one in town i think. Was close at her first attempt behind Hayils Magic and given that there are no stars here, i think she can win. That being said, i think True Flyer is a nice horse in the making. He has won his last 3 races in good fashion and will give them something to catch. Good quinella. Stirling has a nice alley and the 2 runs back from the break, will be thereabouts at the end too. Race 4 - Eep. Tough, tough race. Miss Carolion can improve on the last run. Never seems to fire fresh, but 2nd up is a much better horse. Her trial before the first up run was very good, and her wet record is very good too. With no weight, i think she can be given a live chance. Image of Reality is the class galloper of the field, but she has drawn the carpark. If they go mad out in front, she gets her chance. Bavosa has a great 2nd up record, but hasnt really fired in Brisbane. Perhaps she can improve tomorrow with the rain and the good alley. Race 5 - Minoa, Picaplace and Clang Edition. Thats really all i can say about the race, because i just can't get into it at all. One of them will win, but they won't be carrying mine . Race 6 - These class 6 events in Brisbane are always good races, and this is no exception. Power Express has been ticking over well of late, and this looks like a good event for him. Hit the line well last time, and was just pipped by House of Woodwind. The 1350 looks good, and the wet is no trouble at all. He'll do me. Step Right In was outlasted and probably outgunned by Hard To Catch last time, but will benefit from the run and the alley suits. Good horse on his day. Minassi has been in great form of late, and conditions really suit him again. I've just got a niggling doubt about the apprentice being on board (no disrespect to Palmer, i rate him as a jockey), he's just been ridden by Byrne and Seamer of late . Race 7 - Very good field here, open race. I like Enthusiast at long odds. Was a huge run last time behind Takeover Target and the mile will suit him down to the ground. Should press forward from the nightmare alley, and hopefully not be trapped deep. Ran some unbelieveable times around Brisbane last year during his purple patch of form. High Academy is in great form, and seems to love Brisbane. The alley is a huge bonus, and will be running on late. Impaler has won at the 1600m, so that shouldnt be a worry, and was a massive run last time. A repeat of that sees him very competitive here. Race 8 - Good one to finish on. I like Starlactic, even from the alley. The horse gives every impression that he'll enjoy the 1200m, you never know though. The 15 alley is a bad draw, to be sure, i'm hoping he jumps well and presses on. The run behind Royal Hero was sensational, and recently beat Babinda Half in great time (BH obviously won well recently in town). Thats Better has plenty of talent and the perfect draw helps no end. He will give backers a great sight. Grandway Shogun is quality and will figure if he repeats some of the runs he put in last campaign. The claim helps, and Ballard rides OK. Good days racing, my best would be Lasting Luck, Power Express and Enthusiast. Good rough chance to Miss Carolion to improve too. Good luck everyone Sven |

I have one reason I am betting in tomorrow not sure what I am going to do yet weather will make a big difference to what I do anyway. If the track is very wet then Consular, Precise Timing, High Academy, Admiral Spy, Wonderer and Zauberei are probably the best chances I also have a feeling that Scenic Wells will enjoy the cut out aswell.
Right now I would be looking e/w Consular, Scenic Wells, Zauberei and Admiral Spy I know that doesn't exactly narrow it down and to be honest if asked I would just back the 1st 2 they are both good horses and certainly look to be decent odds to have a nibble at. |

Apparently, it's a heavy track, so I don't know what I'll be doing with Brisbane now.

Impaler and Show Biz Kid [and 19/20] are out of the Bernborough HCP [R7].
Enthusiast won a 1600m at Doomben in 1.34.41 with 54 1/2kg. Very quick. If a repeat of that he should win I hope. 4th up with 53kg. Barrier 18 but a good jock. I'll plumb for enthusiast and a good track by the time the race is run. 1x4ew. PS. Heavy track? [your post slipped in before mine Sportz] Last edited by crash : 7th January 2006 at 09:22 AM. |

I am going to go with Consular today weight doesn't worry this horse in fact this would be one of his lighter top weights he likes a wet track ran a bottler one day on the wettest track I have ever seen at the Sunshine Coast.
Active Combat was another I thought could go alright 1st up he has had about 3 months off and he made need the run but we'll see should be good odds anyway aroung the $15-$20 mark. |

Had another god look at the form for R7. for 'Heavy'.
Precise Timing comes right into this on a heavy track. won a $100k at Toowoomba with 59kg. on a slow track over 2000m. Consular has been running shockers this time up but no. 19 Zauberei is very good on this track and distance, in form and 2 for 2 on the Slow. With 52kg. and Scotty on board ...well I'll back Precise Timing and Zauberei both for the win now I think. Best of luck. |
