Exclamation Givem a Go

A number of my punting mates consistently avoid backing horses ridden by 3 or 4 kilo claiming apprentices stating their race riding inexperience completely outweighs any reduced weight advantage.

This argument does have merit but in my view there are times where the 3/4 kilo claim CAN make a BIG difference.

Thumbs up Sat 22 April

imo the 3 or 4 kilo claim today will genuinely enhance the chances of:

Ballina R7 CATFISH
Eagle Farm R4 RAMPANT LION
Kembla Grange R4 CANADIAN HEIGHTS
Kembla Grange R5 SUMEHRA
Randwick R1 MAHTOUM
Randwick R9 COOL FRONT

Ascot Race 3 (1) MISS CASTAWAY
Ascot Race 8 (2) CRISTOBAL

Both strong chances and both to be ridden by 3kg apprentice

Connections should get the full benefit of William Hernan’s 3kg claim on Winning Dancer (Edenhope race 7 today) which should be enough to see the mare notch up her 2nd win from 14 starts.

That new QLD girl Toni Hall [?] I think that is her name, rode her first race 2 Saturdays back on a country track [starts with B..Barcladine or something] as a replacement jockey as she was the only one available and won by 17 1/2 lengths [a record for a first ride] !!

There was another 4kg claiming kid up that way who just missed winning the whole card by a short half-head in the last at another country meeting. Keen as mustard they are.

I read about them in 'just racing'. Yep, give em' a go I say.

Yep great result for you TobinBronze well done!

I think Striking Victory can run a bold race in the 7th at Randwick. Is resuming but goes ok first-up and ran 2nd in a recent Rosehill barrier trial. Drawn well and gets in extra well after the 3kg claim.

Good ride by the young apprentice & a surprisingly good DD divi (Striking Victory – field)

Thumbs up ROCKHAMPTON R2

..the 3 kilo claim for young Tyrone Huxham should make a world of difference to the winning chance of Craiglea Miss

..after the claim she will carry just 2 kilos over the limit

..and she just loves racing at Rocky and the 1000 is an ideal distance

ENJOIN Newcastle r2 looks a top hope even without the 3kg claim! Did well first-up Wyong this class and placed 2nd-up previously. The claim's a bonus!
