Default Warning about 'AOL Billing Center'

I recently recieved a message from AOL Billing Center. It's a trojan that will put an applette into you java runtime enviroment.

JS.Trojan.Cardst is a trojan written in JavaScript. It tries to convince the user that it is AOL Billing Center. The contents of the html page includes a form in which the user is asked to fill the details about his creadit card, post address, phone numbers etc. Once this is done and the form submitted, the trojan sends all the data to the virus writer.

If you did that......your credit card info could very well be stolen.
I would advise contacting your credit card company to inform them of the situation. They can put a watch on your account or have the card cancelled and a new one issued.
-------------------------------------------------------

To clear the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) cache: [not a bad idea to do this once a month or so anyway].

Click Start > Control Panel.

Double-click the Java icon in the control panel.
-The Java Control Panel appears.

Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
-The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.

Click Delete Files.
-The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
-There are three options on this window to clear the cache.

Delete Files
View Applications
View Applets

Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
-Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache [don't worry about that, new one from 'clean' sites will re-instal when you visit].

Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window. Close the Java Control Panel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While your at it............Got a 'nasty' hiding in temporary internet files. Maybe / don't know ???

click start> run> Copy and Paste this into the box::

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Hit enter.

When that folder opens delete all the folders in there except. leave 'Index.dat' file alone. (windows likely won't let you delete it anyway).

OK to send to recycle bin...

Empty recycle bin.

Your now 'clean' for those areas that your pc 'protection' will have missed.

Cheers.

Default

Same process removes the annoying "Byte Verify" trojan and variants. Good writeup, Crash.

Glenn
