Default Doomben Races Saturday

Race 1,
Amber lodge likes the wet,,races prominent and thats a good thing with first use of the track,,,shes shown a bit of her customary fight in her last 2 runs so she should be winning this against these...
shes not consistant enough for me at those odds though 2..50 ?? to short for me...Classic Alabi hit the line very nicely last start and shouldnt be worried about the step up in distance,,,friscos vision is a smart one and did beat Stipend who won well last Sunday...
They both look the standouts,,,they should dominant the market ...if you looking for something at the better odds Our Jangles who doesnt mind the wet and the plus is you know she'll run the distance out strong..only has 51kgs which will help....
if the other 2 are to short Our Jangles e/w might be a better bet...i'll be playing around with tris with these 3 and hoping a long shot jags a place,,,

Race 2
I like Irish Loup,,,the horse is strong and consistant the 56kgs is less than he usually lugs and hes racing against an average bunch...his 2nd to designer Cleo was solid ...and Cleo has since franked the form ,,,
i cant find anything to beat him now titusville is scratched....Quick Ball and Myagi the next raters..

Race 3.
Everyones tipped me Scattergun,,,i wont be taking the shorts about him though,,,i thought Papapo around here with the rail out gets his chance....his pattern is to take off before the turn and turn it into a slogging match down the straight..around here you can do that,,,and with only 53 he might have that little bit of dash he needs to sneak a break..
Victory Charm if the track isnt boggy a good chance...should get the good run and if kai doesnt take off to early he has a good sprint...
Pappapo / Victory Charm....Scattergun/Bit Of Magic

Race 4,
Stolit all the rage...i wasnt totally convinced about him last start but he was solid......i thought Bigger than looked stronger on the line and this race is 200m longer and i think the breed will apreciate the wet...
The Spear battled on very well against a very smart one last start..i think he just needs to produce that run again to win this..he did win a barrier trial in the wet,,,,always hard with these youngies but the The Spear around $6 looks good value..

The Spear,,,Stolit/Bigger Than

Race 5.
Hard not to back Omnitrader in the wet...he'll be fav for sure...on the better track Imperilism would be the fav ,,,i dont think hes out of it and he does have a class record to his name on the slow,,,that was a while ago though
and the toppy's wet form is just to hard to ignore,,,

Race 6.
I'm a fan of Diurnal...good fresh and is ok in the wet..beat omintrader in the wet before this track n distance so you'd have to like him here...
I worry about a first up horse in the heavy ..if it gets boggy the 1200m must seem like 1400 m down the straight....and there are some fit horses in this race..Naval Seal /Katenian to name a few...
Best to see how the track is holding up in this race..

Race 7.
How short was Chut last start...i thought id get 10's but he ended up fav.....,,wasnt my money and i cant see myself after that race ever even wanting to back him again...I'm a fan of Buzz ..he has been hitting the line consistantly but is he a gunna horse aswell ???
I dont mind the Encostas in the wet and he has looked good of late...there also nothing in the race youd call muddies anyway.....Buzz with the light weight deserves a win and gets his chance tomorrow,,

Race 8.
Son Of Dane scratched again...to wet im guessing...Looks as though General Patton will be fav and he does look well suited...I dont mind shilo but in the wet and the last race on a wet track makes it worse...Short Way isnt hopeless and last time i saw him on the slow he battled it out against Tornadic Sky who loves the wet and is a sure thing at the coast tomorrow,,
General Patton...Shilo/Short Way

Best Bets ,,,,,Irish Loup, Buzz,General Patton
Best E/ws.... Pappapo,The Spear

A hard day in Brissie again...always is this time of year and the wet track makes it even harder..I'll be concentrating again down South as i dont think they'll be much value around up here..

This is my short list for tomorrow...still trying to cull a few as i have a few to many......
Sydney
Picaro , Sepia (oh Oklahoma) , Activation, Excites, Regal Cheer
Melbourne
Pavlova ,Megadeal, Haddle Mcdaddle, El Sugundo (Perfect Promise), Matras , (Merlot Now)
Adelaide
Glorious baron, Lotto Rock
Belmont
Arctic Park, Thunder n Halo
Gold Coast
Tornadic Sky,Divine Etiole
Toowoomba
Tabinga Lass
NZ
Wahid
Kembla
Dekaap

Good Luck all

Hey Mav,

Had some rain during the week, at last. Not really great for the racing, but it was nice for a change. The fields have dropped off pretty badly, but we'll see what we can do .

Race 1 - Think Colonial Lass is the one here. Good in the wet and it was a good run last time when deep. Amber Lodge is a non-winner in town, but she can place in this sort of race. Our Jangles is good in the wet, but those runs have been at the Sunny Coast in lesser grade. There should be good odds available for Colonial Lass with both Our Jangles and Amber Lodge attracting good support.

Race 2 - *Shrugs*. The one with the most upside, for mine, is a Rory's Jester (Red Hot Pistol) and we know their record on wet going. However, given that its a bad race, ill stick with him. He ran some really good races last prep (he was also well back in many of them). Given the strong money he attracts whenever he runs, i get the feeling the stabel have a strong opinion on him. Irish Loup and Commander Monash for the placings.

Race 3 - Pretty ordinary field here. 2 lightly raced ones are my focus here. Scattergun and Shouldawon are both risks in the wet going, but as i said, bad field. Given that, ill go for Scattergun on class alone over Shouldawon who shows good promise. Maybe Pappapo for 3rd, who has been consistent lately.

Race 4 - The Spear too good. Has run better ratings than Stolit, even though beaten last time. The winner of that race (Quizzical Lady) is a very very good horse. If he handles the ground, then i'd be surprised if he didnt go close. Stolit has to carry the big weight against some good horses on the wet going. Thats a big ask and i think it'll be too much for him. Good horse though. Maybe Matzumi for 3rd.

Race 5 - Omnitrader, Appertain, Cold Start. NEXT!

Race 6 - Katenian. I think this is a trap race. Naval Seal will find it tough here because A Little Naughty goes fast, so he won't have everything his own way out in front. Given that, if Katenian gets a good run in transit, i can see him getting home over the top of them. Naval Seal and A Little Naughty for the placings.

Race 7 - Kanetoshi Millions strikes an ordinary field and should go close. Hasn't exactly struck top form this time in, but this is the sort of race he can win. The wet track won't worry him, so i think he is good value. Clevergaze and Loughnan for the placings.

Race 8 - The rain has really destroyed this race, which is a shame because it was a top race. General Patton, with all the scratchings, looks a good thing. Handles the wet, has beaten better horses than these....yea, he'll do me. Prang and Mr Hornblower for the placings.

Good luck all,

Sven

Well done there Mav,

Another good day for the Brissie thread. Had some good ones lately, hope everyone else is having some luck too .

Couple of good ones went around in Brissie today in The Spear and Scattergun. Having seen The Spear beat that field makes me wonder where Quizzical Lady is going next...down south no doubt. Can't wait.

As for Scattergun, he needed to win that by a space if he was to justify a southern trip (they were pretty ordinary), and he did. I was the same as you too Mav, the price was unbelievable. Gotta take those opportunities when you get em

Speaking of good prices, Court Command seemed overs. After the easy win the week before, i think he was entitled to start shorter than 7-1. One thing is for sure now though, he won't start those odds again for a while . Super win, and i can't wait for the Guineas (i think thats where they are heading).

And wasn't Activation good in winning with the big weight. Better things in store for him this spring no doubt. Congrats on the win on this bloke Mav. Strange why Nexgen was so fancied though - had only beaten run-of-the-mill Brissie horses?

All in all, very enjoyable. Back at EF next week should be good, altho Doomben has been very good to us over the last few weeks. Can't wait though

Sven
