Thats where you have it wrong, 10% is luck the rest is hard work.

Laying horses sounds real easy but it is just like all other forms of punting you still need to put in the hard work to find those losers.

Tell me what sort of profit would you be happy with as a second income, or for those inclined a first income?

G'Day Filante, "that" guy went to the system/Tips sellers graveyard hee heee!

Re laying losers: just as an excercise, I figured I back so many losers anyway that it should be no problem, so TRIED to pick 6 losing pre-post favs a day (as 70 % lose anyway) gave up after a few weeks with a S/R (winners) of about 30%, what does that tell ya? hahahaah!

I think he was banned.

As to 50K from a bank of 6K?
You can make 50K from less than that, if you have a good selection method, if you haven't no bank is large enough.

Some people argue about the size of bank because of the effect of runs of outs.

Anyone stupid enough to let go of even half of the 6K bank without doing somet about it, deserves to lose it.

Again I state: If you have a good selection method and have good discipline in betting, you can start with a hundred bucks and build up your bank and make a profit.
Good luck

One of the best and most sensible posts on this forum for a long time.

I get sick and tired of the old saying "IF ONLY I HAD A BANK", when actually the saying should be "IF ONLY I HAD A SELECTION METHOD"

Selection method good then the bank will follow.

Cheers

The reason laying is hard is that the odds on betfair usually are much higher than the tab.

When you are looking for selection methods for laying you to think about the tab takeout and the betfair takeout.

TAB takes approx 15%. Betfair takes approx 5%.

Using these figures if you can find a method which has a return of less than 80% (-20% LOT) on the TAB you will be close to breaking even on betfair.

A lot of people thinks it is easy to pick the losers but the long shot will get up and will cause you to come back to approx break even.

For instance a random sample using a random horse from over 10,000 races still gave me a return of 83% - 89%( ran through it 5 times ).

Good Luck.
