![]() Hi all
I have read on numerous threads when this discussion has come up in regards to POT that pros aspire too, between 2-10% seems to be where the pros are pitching. My question if anyone knows or is in that league is what % of your bank does the draw down go to to achieve your monthly profit percentage. Some pros have indicated they turnover two or three hundred thousand a month for a 2% POT per month. Cheers ubetido

![]() Except for Arbitrage punters on Betfair [investors really, not gamblers] and money launderers, you'll probably find punters who make some big bucks in Oz, turnover nowhere near the amount your talking about and don't grind out a small weekly percentage. Hitting enough horses a year with very good odds is probably the real gravy train [it was right up to about 1990] and to do that, unless they are exceptional handicappers, they probably get some very good and paid for by percentage or kickback ....'advice' ;-)
PS. The Iceman's tips in HK had a 51% SR. Tips certainly worth paying for? I read a story in the Age on Sat. about the corruption in the racing industry over the years. One example was about a small field of Jockies in a race just after the jump: 'Right boys, I hope everyone remembers the plan in this?' yells the senior Jock. The 4kg. claiming apprentice on a real roughy, pipes up: "What plan, I don't know what to do'? The senior jockies yells across to him: 'You just go like the clappers mate after the turn, your on the winner'! Last edited by crash : 25th March 2007 at 06:17 AM. |

![]() Yes, I've read similar stories in Jockeys Autobiographies, given human nature and $$, I'm sure it must still go on, though I doubt it happens much at the main meetings; as they are scrutinised so closely.

![]() yeh well the 1st 2 races in sydney yesterday are indicators as to why one needs to have rocks in his head to seriously bet in small fields
no apprentices riding mind you, just a handful of the 'better' jockeys in that particular town.... |

Ubetido, The drawdown is in proportion to the average dividend of your winners. Unfortunately, there are a lot of good methods, ratings, whatever, that have huge drawdowns for slim POT %'s. Perhaps consider the level of risk you can withstand financially and "emotionally" for the profit to be a realistic end result.
