Unhappy if you bet long enough..

i guess you see everything & everthing will happen to you, well at least once!

just had a place bet in the 3rd at Bendigo on Step On A Star, comfortably going to run 3rd with 50odd to go, snaps a leg & goes down less than 20m from the post!

i must have upset the gods recently...bad luck for the horse too..

I was in the same boat, lost the bet, but still felt a bit sick seeing it break down, never a nice thing!

Quite a few years ago I had a win bet on a horse that was leading by a head with about three strides to go. Just before it crossed the line it turned it's head a savaged the neck of the second horse, consequently losing the race by a head

Or the jockey that fell from his mount whilst leading 50 from home but managed to hold on below the horses neck without touching the ground, therefore still carrying the right weight. Just couldn't hold on long enough to get over the line.
