Top Northern Rivers apprentice Ben Looker makes a return to his roots at Ballina today where he has a strong book of rides.

Looker, 18, spent the past four months with Rosehill trainer Tim Martin. Home sickness, a dislike of city life style, a series of suspensions and limited opportunities saw the youngster elect to come home to Grafton.

Looker has four rides including Bold‘N‘Brown in the Carlton Draught Maiden (1600m) and Golden Dreams in the Westlawn Finance Mdn (1300m) for his Grafton-based master, trainer John Shelton.

His other rides are Minnie Bright for Stephen Lee in the North Coast Party Hire Hcp (1300m) and Our Ovations for Shane Randall in the East Coast Glass & Aluminium Hcp (1300m).
