Safety priorities. Fair go.
The jocks are pleading safety concerns with their whip argument - It made me wonder how many horses get killed at the last fence in jumping races.
Earlier this year i believe many of the incidents in Adelaide occurred at the last fence. Riding exhausted horses into the last hurdle is very dangerous - I wonder what the Jocks think should be done about that. Its time for an open discussion on the issues relating to the whip issue and the hurdle issue. Does any one know if the percentage of horses falling at the last is much higher than other parts of the circuit. Should the last fences be removed. Does the padded whip hurt much - the public doesnt know with any degree of accuracy. This issue shows a high degree of pig headed-ness and surely an agreed position could have occurred before its imposition
