I think these work better when you use them on Class 6 and higher races. The weekday horses in the Maidens and C1 just don't have enough information around them for proper analysis.
I also think quite a few of the factors are extras that don't really make any headway towards selecting a winner. If you cancelled them out the selection would still be the same..And there must be a subjective factor in giving ordinal figures (the points each, say Jockey gets) for some of the factors. I have used it to rank average prize money winners effectively by clicking everything down to zero except the $ one. Trying to make prices out of the points is also difficult. Someone ages ago thought there was a close correspondence with the Tim factor and if you made a book at 100% the prices you reach are quite similar to the actuals. But I've never verified that. |

fryingpan,
i believe the $ figure in the neurals is actually total prizemoney earned and not average prizemoney....further i find if you blank out all bar 1 stat the program will reject where there are runners without that stat e.g. if you set solely current form and there were first starters in the race, the whole race would reject, because they have no form..... cheers, noel |

Fryingpan ..I agree with you on using the neurals on class 6+...it would be nice to have neurals for some other variables like weight, first up form,winning/beaten margins etc..but using a good form as well I've been coming up with a fair few winners...

This plan works well on the Top selection of the Neurals, if there is a scratching , do not replace with the second selection, do not bet on that race.
Use the default settings . 1)Back all top selections in barriers 1-3 who have had a run within last 7 days. That`s it . Gets 30%+ SR POT varies from 30% to 130% each month, at level stakes 7 Days a week. You will average 1.5 bets per day It is very selective ,but deadly. Win only. I hope this helps you. Let us know how you go.

I have a program that can convert their Neural points into a price line .
What works with this is , you target races with 12-14 starters only, avoid Maidens & 2 yr olds (minimal form to go on) note the Neurals top 6 selections ,before scatchings. Convert those top 6 to a price line (5 if there is a scatching) ,then back all the selections that come up at $7.00 & less ,regardless of what the TAB is paying. This method has pulled some very big payers. While the smaller payers help you to break even. If you want a copy of my Neural Pricing Template ,email me at bhk@bigpond.net au

The time factor nueral concerns me ....often a horse will be put on top simply because of a large time nueral and some horses dont have a rating at all does anybody have a simple explanation for it, i often put it to zero and i also think that CP is more important than CF does anyone have an opinion on that .......anyway this is a great forum its full of brainfood i look foward to coming here and finding some new angle to think about .......cheers nevets

I have to admit a mistake. I checked out the average prizemoney from a form guide and it didn't quite match the ranking order from the neurals. So you are right about prizemoney earned. Still it was close to the mark and if you batch up the top five like I do then it's an easier set to find a winner from than the field. Doesn't work all the time but it's generally correct. Check it out on last Saturday's races and see what I mean. |
