Race Rate Plans Any Good?
Hi Guys,
I've recently come across race rate which I have had a look at a few plans. Are these guys any good? I am interested in the lay plans but not sure if these have been successful over a long period or not. Any feedback or experience or recommendations on these? |

I haven't looked at them but can i suggest a couple of questions to ask yourself.
1. Why are you buying the system? 2. Are you going to bet every selection it throws up ? or will you give up after the first big drawdown. 3. Are you capitalised adequately to bet the systems correctly. 4. Do you have the time to run the system every day (or on the days it stipulates). Even if your happy with all these answers I would say the following... There are quite a few good systems posted in this forum that work long term. Look around and paper trade them for a while. You lose nothing that way and you gain confidence in the selection method. Maybe you can improve it. If you have helped construct a system you will have a lot more confidence in using it. Personally I think your better buying a database from a commercial provider and coming up with your own systems then buying a system from a commercial provider. |

I've bought a couple off Race Rate over the years, and generally speaking they seemed okay, I never continued betting them myself, they just weren't my style of punting. Out of the commercially available systems they would have to be up there as perhaps some of the best (compared to some I have bought over the years anyway).
All there systems are testes live on the site, and they have shown a profit over those months otherwise they get binned. Although as we know, something that works over a few months doesn't give any guarentees to the what the future holds. As Wesmip mentioned, really you'd be better off reading through the hundreds of pages on this site, theres quite a few systems on here that do work, and also +1 to the database suggestion, best investment I ever made! |

Barny,
I don't use any commercial dataabase. I use my own that I wrote myself. There is a free one here. But you won't get any support or help instqalling it and no back data. But its free. It going to depend on what you want and what price you are willing to pay upfront and ongoing. I always hear a lot of good stuff about Betselector although its pricey and I have heard Chromes Princes is good if you want something a bit cheaper. |

Just a note, my database now contains over 150,000 metro and country races.

I feel Race Rate would have to be one of the more genuine services out there.
They are not overpriced. They don't use greed talk They always state over what period there research was taken over. They always state that there is no guarantee that it will repeat into the future. What one is paying for, is the research that has been done, to discover a possible on going profit maker. You may be able to make their angle more profitable using some of your own researched filters. If you are interested in their Lay plan , one would have to check to see if their research was using TAB price or Betfair prices because there is usually about a 20% difference . Therefore if results are based on TAB prices , one would need to see a minimum result of -30% LOT (profit to the Lay bettor) to allow for the 20% diff meaning 10% profit using Betfair, seeing that Lay betting can only be done on Betfair , it may appear strange why TAB prices were used instead of Betfair prices at 5 secs till jump or their SP . So, if they report that their Lay system made 20% profit using TAB prices , that would mean , one would have broken even when Lay betting with Betfair due to the 20% diff in prices. Here is a free data base to have a play with to kick things along. Online System Builder (Google) You can create your own Lay plan using this , one needs to create a plan showing a min of -30% LOT because TAB price are used instead of Betfair prices. If you have a spare $5000 use GTX , considered to be the Rolls Royce of system builders, it can filter anything , even the horses colour. Some have reported that Price Predictor producers a number of profitable systems . They report , for some reason , it is easier to create a profitable system than when using GTX If you are considering investing in a commercial data base , try & go for one that has a pre-post market included, this helps enormously in the filtering process. Here's a Lay plan to get you started. It works well on the UK Dogs as well as Horses. RULES Target TAB No.2 only. Lay Price must be 3.60-5.60 20 secs till jump. Bet 1% of bank level stakes. Re-adjust bet if 30% is lost or won. You are encouraged to place your own filters over the selection before making the Lay Bet.

Thanks for your detailed reply to my message.
I ended up getting a copy of Master Lays which when yesterday using on Maiden and Class 1 races only produced a winner and then all losses ie successful lays from However this is only one day.....as we know things can change. Do you use this plan or use filters to get a better result at all? Thanks. |

Can you say what some of the filters may be, so that we can give a stronger answer to a specific question.
