A (NZ) mate of mine reckons that Oarsman is a certainty for the G1 Wellington Cup at Trentham tomorrow. Any NZ forum members care to comment?

For what it's worth Paddy, this seems to be a race with many chances. My top 9 in rated order are 14-9-7-12-5-3-10-2-5.
I've got a little system which I operate on about 20 group or listed races a year in which I back the top 9 to win and the top 6 into the field in quinellas so long as there are 15 or more runners. This particular race is not included in the workout and I'm still struggling with myself as to whether I should just watch it or place my bets as shown. The last time I did it on a NZ race was when Our Unicorn won one of the big cups. Didn't collect on the win but the quinella collect more than covered the outlay. In general the various 2 mile cups don't tend to throw up extremely rough results i.e. $50+ divs so I think I may err on the side of caution here. The top 5 in my ratings are a long way ahead of the others, however. Good luck anyway.

Hi Paddy & Percentum. Agree Paddy, Oarsman looks the hardest to beat. Also like a couple of roughies that Percentum hasn't included in his top 9 (a bit of a worry) - 11 Being Supreme & 17 Talking Heads.
