Smile Melbourne Cup Markets

As a passing interest I decided to make note of the opening prices for the Melbourne Cup 2011 from one of Australia's leading Bookmaker back on 29th November 2010. today I revisited the same site and updated the prices.

Of the 96 horses listed in 2010 only 24 are in the same Bookmaker's current market (20/09/11).

What is very interesting is that of these 24 horses, 14 are at better prices now than back then.

There are another 136 horses listed in today's market that were not even mentioned on 29th Nov 2010.

Why would anyone even consider backing a horse so far out from the race when the prices are so poor!
