Default Compiling a STABLE to follow

INCLUDE
  • Leaders and on pace runners (reduces bad luck in running)
  • Interstate / Overseas / Country horses with a decent SR of say 50%
  • Those with less than 15 starts (say between 8 and 15)
  • Look at the class of horse (ie; has run in Group 1 which (hopefully) indicates the trainers view of the horse),
  • Look for where the trainer is placing his horse
  • Sex of horse
  • Try and get the best odds - (G Murphy won backing his horses over $4.00)
  • A dud run first up but an excuse “failed due to track conditions”.
Back the NEGATIVE and add that horse to the stable eg; Swiss Ace had a brilliant Win S/R but had a bad barrier. It won @ 33/1 then ran 2nd in the

Look at form such as 26s2s especially in a lightly raced horse.
  • Try a 4yo / 5yo who was getting up in the weights last time in ….. wait for a glimpse of form tho’

A couple of things you need to consider when running a stable.

1. How many runners will be in your stable
2. How long do you follow a runner before you drop it.
3. Are you happy with 1 or 2 bets a day.

1 or 2 bets per day = a dozen bets per week which is 11 more bets than I have now. I'd have a stable of say 12 horses and give them 5 runs each. Shaun, was it you who posted about a stable many years ago?
