Default Visiting Trainers

Does anyone follow the "Visiting Trainers" system mentioned many moons ago in the longshot system by privateer (???) I think. Once again K Sweeney came over here and got 20's about a horse that had won the Adelaide Guineas at it's previous start (a Listed Race).

I assume the "Visiting Trainers" system concentrated on those trainers travelling a long way out of their ground to compete in a higher grade of race than one would normally expect them to. Sydney Metro trainers coming to Melbourne wouldn't be included, but Adelaide, W.A. and Qld form could be included because their racing would be seen as inferior to Melb and Sydney.

Anyone do anything with this type of system?

Hi Barny,
Don't follow this kind of thing at the moment but there was a thread by punter57, who also started the "Mechanical Longshot" thread, about this very thing so if you look up his posts you should be able to find it.
Unfortunately, blindly following every trainer who decides to lug his horse along way to a meetiing won't work but definitely something to be taken into consideration and there are a lot of winners that pop up at long odds, mid week too.
Also unfortunately, the opposite also happens a lot, a horse trained on the home track gets up, also often at big odds, quite often first uppers.
As there isn't a definite set of rigid rules that will point to the winner it sounds pretty contradictory but with travelled and home track horses it seems definitely worth putting a mark next to their name for future form study and consideration.

I'm sure you're well aware of all this so I'm not trying to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs.

Punter57 seems to no longer post here but while he did he created quite a furore and ruffled a few feathers with his contrarian ideas. He seemed to be very capable and vigorous in his defence of them too .

He is still very much a player, but has moved into the exotics markets, I know he snared two large exotics in April of 28K and 40K, that would add to his long list of wagering achievements.

Glad to hear he's still going good. I always enjoyed reading his posts which I found thought provoking and they got you to look at things from a different angle if nothing else.

I look at punter57 and see it as punter's7.... punter's heaven? I then look at woof43 and notice the last two digits also add up to 7.....could it be ???

punter57's longshot system should be required reading b4 you are eligible to have your first bet ever, followed a 1 / 2 length away by privateer (he / she did the pareto thingy ??) ..... then a photo for 3rd including kenchar & half a dozen others ....
