Default Happy New Year..or is it?

Since I started collating my own form records some 3 years ago I have found that the couple of weeks either side of new year can throw up some weird but not so wonderful results so I resolved last year to suspend betting for that month & it did save me a few bob.

I've put it down to an overall drop off in the class of horse racing as many owners, trainers & jockeys take time off, leaving others less talented to fill the void. In addition extreme temperatures never help.

So I am interested to find out if others feel the same way or just forge on ahead regardless.

Oh & happy xmas...or is it merry new year?

How do the faves strike rates fare at this time of year? Does anyone know what the first say 1-5 faves strike rates are this month?

Is it any different to other times of the year?

Who cares? There is more to life than gambling. Get with the Christmas spirit mate. Relax, have a wee dram and forget about the horses. You will probably enjoy your Christmas all the more.

Hi bernie. I guess what I'm trying to find out is if the averages are average over this time of the year then what's the difference in betting or not betting at any time of the year.

If the strike rates are all over the shop then that's another matter.

TO, dunno about the strike rates but my rating go a bit skewy, not too dissimilar to the middle/back-end of winter so, preferring not to over-think these things, I take a break.

My last post for the year so good cheer to all!

Moeee, a few of my friends can't believe I get cold turkey on Good Friday and x'mas day because there's no racing, and they also find it difficult to believe I'm not the only one.

If I had a printer I'd print your posting and keep it in a safe place to show them.

Yes, how will we and others here survive??? Only six days to go.

If anyone is offended by hearing/reading something not positive about probably the two holiest days of the Christian calender, I (and I'm sure Moee too) mean no offense or disrespect.

Hi Michaelg,

I believe there're some Swedish Harness races we can sink our teeth into, so fret not my good man!!

Norisk, I completely agree that this is a strange time of year for the punt. Having spent some time in WA, I'll be concentrating on the New Year's Day card but will be rather quiet in the interim. From a tipster's perspective, I know from monitoring the last few years results they seem to go a little skewiff.
