Do race Clubs do their own programming or does Supertab do it for them.?
Echuca Monday,April 28th.,has a 2100m. maiden as the first leg of the quadrella whilst a class 3 handicap with some form to work with has been left out.
If ever their was any doubt that punters are treated as absolute fools, then this type of programming removes that doubt absolutely.

silly question.
in tasmania the races were moved from saturday to sundays for (1) sky channel needed another meeting for sunday.
(2) to increase tab turnover by having a sky channel meeting.

this may sound logical but in hobart we used to be able to attend the races and bet on all venues e.g. syd. melb. etc as well as a day out at the races. (alternate weeks were trot meeting and gallops)
but it went with sky channel.

It wasn't really a question Topsy. I already new the answer. Helps to get it off your chest though.
BTW. Of the said maiden race, only 7 of the 14 have raced further than 1600m. and of those, four have been placed. I guess it will suit the field takers.

Punters want the country or Tas meetings on Saturdays so you can bet on the big races elsewhere with the bookies.

But the clubs need the money from TAB turnover on their own racing, which can only happen when they put the races on less popular days, effectively killing off the bookies in the process by squashing their turnover.

Almost a case for the ACCC with the TABs finding yet another route to kill off competition....

I think the bookies are doing a good job of killing themselves off.
Tried to place a bet of $250-00 at 4/1 at the Mowbray trots recently.
He took $150-00 and laid off with supertab.
The horse lost.

i suppose the complaint i have with changing the days is that it used to be a great day to go to the races and enjoy the best of racing with telecasts from interstate and local crowds and a lot of good friends. i miss them now greatly as we had some great friendships. i live 60 kms out of hobart and we used to get together. but its not the same now and the crowds have dwindled away.
