Hope someone can assist me.
I have created an excel spreadsheet for creating my own ratins and prices from inputing relevant data from the formguides.
The data input is tedius, so wondered if anyone out there would assist by giving me some direction on how to download form and automate extracts into the spreadsheet?

What you are asking for is extremely complicated to explain.

Firstly, what formguide are you trying to import and secondly what info do you need?

I would suggest relating two excel workbooks.

First workbook containing temporary full form.
Second workbook to contain the form you need via formulae.

This is the longhand approach and uses up a great deal of physical memory.

Unless you know VBA code, then this is the way to go.
If you don't want to reveal what exactly you need out of the formguide, then you can just explain a hypothetical scenario, just so you get the idea of the setup.

Lastly, there are many excel forums on the net, and most have advanced users who should be able to help you out.

To: Chrome Prince,
I am looking at the sites that provide free form. Racenet for NSW and Queensland, and Racing Victoria Limited for the southern states.

The info I require to extract from these form guides is as follows:
1. TAB NR,
2. Horse Name,
3. Barrier Position,
4. Today's Handicapped weight,
5. career starts,
6. career wins,
7, career prizemoney,
8. Distance winner,
9. Track winner,
10.Track and Distance winner.
11. First-Up win
12. first-up Placing
13. Second-Up win
14. Second-Up Placing, and
15. Date of last race.

This is the info I need to process my calculations for Rating, Sorting, Pricing (Bookmakers prices & TAB prices), and Percentage indications.

Hope you guys can assist me.
I getting tired of typing all the info in each Friday and Saturday morning.

Do you have access to the SA / QLD tab,

You would need an account open there for it to work but if you do i can send through one thats allready working.

The reason you would need the account as it access the expanded form and to get this an account must be activated.

from experience of computing form etc.
i am not convinced that strike rates are improved by doing this type of form but gives you a lot of participation and hard work. at the end of the day it may not be worth all the effort.
the variables are far too great to compute and intent is a factor that i was never able to compute.
on saturday fearless sophie beaten 19.3 lengths last start. 11th out of 14 (mildura cup) funny they put blinkers on and guess what.
but fearless sophie was placed in the bendigo cup (listed race) last november and had some quality. so hangin in on the listed horses was computable.

Puntz, and topsy99 - Yes puntz, you hit the nail on the head. whatever is your preference, go for it. If I feel satisfied doing all this form analysis, just to achieve , (in my opion) a value bet then the hard work is justified.

topys99, I agree, with you, if you follow so called form to the letter, you will end up in the mad house with no hair left!!
I use the information mentioned in my previous posting to find, in my opinion, potentially the best horse in the race. I ignore beaten margins and the so called class of races. I feel these two variables totally confuse the thought processes of finding the best horse in the race (and hopefully the winner!!).
I look for the best horse in the race (according to my rating method) then sort and price them and, on race day I use Dutch betting to glean some value out of the top two or three of my selections. I have reasonable success doing this. (not being a large punter)
Once again thanks to all of you, I will persue my goal and keep you guys posted. If (sorry when) I refine the process albiet via our conversations or utilising VBA, I will achieve my goal and let you guys know about it.
