Does anyone have statistics on the zip in the sportsman. I'd expect it would need to be based on a ranking order. Top rater down. In the Wizard I use a filter of >80 wrat and it can cull out quite a bit of the field and leaves you with approx 72% chance of finding the winner.

Thanks

I thought I would bring this back to the top and see if I can generate some replys. Be interested in others views.

Well, I don't get the Sportsman these days, but a few years ago, I did like following the top rated horse if it's Zipform rating was at least 2 kgs above the 2nd top rated runner. Perhaps someone can have a look at that and see how it goes.

I gave away the Sportsman too. Too expensive. Two editions a week plus "special" editions. I felt like I was being milked. I still think its the best around though and if you're betting serious money its worthwhile.

I don't have stats but the zip starred horses perform better than favourites and the vast majority of winners (85%+) are within 4 kgs of the zip star. Not very useful. I'd like to see some stats on the zip.

So you're a Wizard reader Twodogs. Maybe you can explain how those Wizard ratings work or what you think they're useful for. I could never really get the hang of the Wizard. Others think its the bees knees.

I think I am a novice when it comes to the Wizard. Professer Darkydog is the man with the best handle on the Wizard I know. I agree with all he has posted on this forum. Malcolm Knowles has published a lot of research which I know Darkydog has digested many time over and also I believe Darky knows Malcolm well.

Cheers

Twodogs,
I was keeping a manual record of the top zipform selection, since mid-Aug last year to about mid Jan, - Saturdays and most Wednesdays.
Strike rate of the top zip over that time was around 19%, with an ave price of around $3.90.

The manual inputting was a pain, so I've moved on - can't provide further breakdowns or info of others within so many kilos of the top runner.

Thanks Shoto,

Unlike the wizard there appears to be a distinct lack of stats for the zipform. Strange really.
