Well guys, I am writing this because I started a post some time before on personal reasons why you liked the punt/horseracing....and you gave your own individual replies which were heartfilled and honourable....of couse of which I appreciated....but now I would like to ask...are they still the same AND please remember to take into account what replies you have posted in regard to the shogun Lodge topic...because quite frankly I think a lot of people have ridiculed themselves!!!!
Lets just see anyway, we are all open to our own personal opinions arent we!!!!!!!!!!!! I spose thats when it comes down to... "For passion or for money" :???: |

Mystic,
I do it for money, not 1 bit of passion involved. That doesn't mean I have no compassion for horses or any animal for that matter dropping dead. I've always owned dogs (no vegetarians) and have always said in so many ways they are better than Humans, because they will never let you down. They are very loyal more than I can say for the majority of people I have met in my life. Please read my post on the other thread. I still reckon mice cream was a classic. Cheers |

mystic,
I have to own up to both passion and money equally. I love horses, racing in general and the thrill of a race. I like the atmosphere of the crowd and the track, and like to observe the great spectacle of horses thundering down the straight sometimes head to head. I care about the welfare of horses and get dismayed at seeing mistreated horses or any animals in fact. Equally I enjoy making money and the thrill of a win. I think it's a bit sad if people can only see it from one perspective or another, rather than enjoying the overall picture. I saw the premiere of SEABISCUIT last night at a preview showing, and I must say, although it was slow to get into the story, very long and some facts were left out entirely; it's well worth a look even if you only like horses or a punt (whichever). Tip: Don't wait for it to come out on DVD, the big screen is the way to get the most out of it.

I'm with Chrome Prince on this, I do it for the passion and the cash. I enjoy the time I take to do form analysis and love it when I am correct. This is because I have analysed form and determined the risk is worth a wager. Therefore when I get it right I also receive the reward of a dividend. It also means that I have negotiated around the "luck, skullduggery and incompitence" of a given situation as someone in another thread said.
I know that when I begin to worry too much about the money and not so much the form, I know that I have to pull up and re-focus on what and why I am punting...Of course this is sometimes easier said than done. _________________ may the horse be with you Seeker [ This Message was edited by: Seeker11 on 2003-11-14 12:05 ] |

passion mainly but i do love having a win on the punt. I'm a regular race goer though so that would suggest passion more so than sitting at home with a tinny, sky channel and a tab phone account(though have been known to do that from time to time).

Hi guys,
I suppose I should add my 10 cents worth. Mine for passion and then for money, before that a passion.... being honest and strait forward. Alot of my views have changed I follow a horse for their talent or luck if you want to call it that, I always find it interesting to see the outcome of a race. But must admit I havent had a bet for a while, yet I still watch the races and praise the horse for their presence. Regardless if they are a roughie or favourite, I just think they are so glorious! Without sounding however it may come across, I dont follow jockeys, after all of course, they help the run but they arent actualy doin it.... So I guess you could say , well for me its the passion. For the horses! OKAY OKAY OKAY...I am ready for an earbashing........lol |
