![]() Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the IAS site.
A lot of times I try to place a bet and it is not accepted. On occasions I have tried to bet some five times and can't get it on and have to revert to TAB. Fixed prices come up when they want, no actual time before the race. For example M8 today I was refreshing every 10 secs looking for a fixed price,1 min to jump it eventually it came up and I went to place a bet only to be told betting was closed. Very frustrating and very amatureish, I think it's about time they got this site together. The concept as far as prices is good, but as far as the site being truly functional it is crap. One cannot dare leave it too late to place a bet as it is lotto whether it is accepted or not. I am on broadband and have a very high grade computer, so no excuses there. I hate to think how anyone on dial up could possibly bet with this site. Cheers |

![]() Hi Kenchar,
I've been using IAS for quite a while now, with very few problems (although I didn't have a bet on them today). I do notice that there seems to be a caching problem of sorts from time to time, but I normally do a "refresh" on the page, or a "hard refresh" and it fixes it up. The "hard refresh" is a refresh that tells the proxy server / caching server to refresh as well, and I'm pretty sure it's done by holding down the Shift (or the Control) and clicking the refresh button. One thing to note is that almost all ISP's use a caching proxy server for serving web pages. Most are now "transparent" which means that even if you don't have a proxy server listed in your Internet Options, then you'll normally still be going through one... I have found that these act up from time to time, particularly on pages which are updated frequently (like the IAS ones), and this can be part of the problem. When you say you were refreshing, were you clicking the refresh button or just clicking the race number again? I find that just clicking the race number again is often very hit-and-miss as you describe. Cheers, Chris.

![]() Hi Chris,
I just refresh the race no, maybe that's the problem, but to be honest I don't have any problem with any other site which update themselves. For example NSW TAB is instant AND I can bet as the last horse is going in the barrier (even if the race is late). As a person that bets from ODDS I find the IAS site very hard and frustrating to use. As I said the concept is good but????? Cheers |

![]() Kenchar,
I had a LOT of problems with IAS a few months ago - the main problem was each time I tried to place a bet it asked me to logon which I did - tried to place the bet - asked to logon again, etc. As Stebbo indicated I am 99% sure it was related to my ISP as the problem disappeared as soon as I went to a new ISP (both were connected via cable). As you say, however, I didn't have problems with any other betting site so I am guessing they have done something a bit unusual with their setup that conflicts with some ISPs. Have you tried calling their support line to see if they have any suggestions? Otherwise you can try Sportingbet as they offer a similar betting service and I didn't have any problems with their site under my old ISP.

![]() Hi Kenchar,
IAS closes their betting 2mins before the advertised starting time... This is a huge pain in the butt....... I don't know why they do this, but I've always suspected that it gives them 2 minutes to lay off on either the TAB's or another bookie if their exposure is too great. I've lost count of the number of times I've taken odds on their service or decided to not bet with them and bet on Betfair only to find that the entire picture changes in that last 2 minutes... And naturally, as decreed by that @!#!@#&&^ irishman Murphy, I normally lose out when this happens... Cheers, Chris.

![]() My initial problem with IAS still remains. I have to disable Nortons before moving from opening page after logging in or when I click on a bet nothing happens. Not good if I forget to enable Nortons again. Slap dash site but I think they have reduced the closing time to one min. before jump Stebbo. Not sure so you might like to check. |

![]() I am pretty sure the close is 1 min for internet bets (I think a bit earlier for phone but I never place bets by phone). I also am fairly sure this is to allow them to lay off with TABs for the Divi+ bets if they have a large exposure on some runners.

![]() Apparently IAS has developed a new site for their internet betting, and are testing it with "select" users. Mark Read announced this at their shareholders meeting a couple of weeks ago.
Their current site IS frustrating, however. The occasional problems with their pages not refreshing properly is ridiculous -- surely the main aim of any bookmaker is to display their actual odds to the punters! For a publicly-listed company to have problems with this type of technology is disappointing. |

![]() Having spent the last three days testing the new website for IAS, I can say that there are some significant improvements -- but still a significant delay from when betting closes and the race starts. |
