Hi All,

I've recently acquired a couple of systems (with outrageous claims) which have as their basis the selection of horses with very specific formlines... followed by other qualifying rules.

For instance, selections are only those horses with x212 or x321 or x123 or .... and so on (these aren't the actual formlines, and there's quite a few of them).

I have run just the formlines throo my database, and have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of just the formlines...

My question is whether people here believe that a specific formline makes the basis of a reasonable system?

Cheers,
Chris.

Hi Stebbo,

As much as any other system working, why not formline ?

Going on your examples which sets a total addition limit of 6 [ 0=10 ] including at least 1 win, as long as the odds for the runner are within say the first 3 or 4 favorites to rule out outrageous class jumpers, their formline show A. A winning ability, B. Ability of the trainer to select suitable races and jockeys.

Filters beyond price like time since last start and track and distance ability only
improve things but I think any more than say 4 rules leads to diminishing opportunities with no increase in SR for some reason.

I have been running such a system among a couple of others since the end of spring very profitably [ 2 out of 3 wins yesterday including The Mooskta at 4.80 winning by 2 lengths. ] I ignore a bet if the horse is a short favorite or if short of value generally. One example to improve value is to rule out a last start win in the formline. 2 bets today for 1 win @ 6.80.
